Found this place by looking at reviews online and glad I did so.

The food was delicious, we had the 3 course set menu. My husband had borcht to start and I had the smoked salmon and blini both of which were very tasty and well sized. Next my husband had the lamb while I had the pork shnitzel, again both were well cooked and good sized portions. To finish we had the cheesecake and pancakes, yum!! The cheesecake especially was to die for.

The service was faultless, the reception excellent and the vodkas, wow!

Overall I would have to say that, if you're looking for a very satisfying meal, this is the place for you and it's great value for money too.

The cosy atmosphere is the best reason to go here - it feels like your Great Aunt's 1940s living room - in a good way! The food is satisfying and well priced but don't expect haute cuisine - there are definitely a few packet sauces and cash and carry condiments doing the rounds. The staff are pleasant and efficient and the service well paced. Wine list could do with a revamp though. On the whole a homely dining experience but let's hope Fay Maschler's rave reviews don't allow them to rest on their laurels.

I've been to this little gem several times over the past 4 years and have never had a bad experience – quite the opposite. The Polish food is hearty, good value and delicious, ideal on a winter's day; the service is both charming and efficient (rare) and the atmosphere can't be beaten for relaxed cosiness. This place seems to be a favourite haunt of a wide range of regular locals and people from further afield. Get a table upstairs rather than down to get the full benefit of the homely atmosphere and decor.

Food was lovely. But at the end we've been overcharged by around £9. What it is: a lady gives you 'your' bill scribbled with a horrible handwriting so you can not work out what is what (not from the cash till like anywhere else). We treated it as a generous tip other may question...(Inland Revenue??)

This is a fantastic restaurant with a truly unusual experience. The waiters are friendly and helpful. Yes it is like someone's front room but it was like going out to an old friends for dinner. Lots of regulars and great food and vodka. Enjoy it

It's a freezing, miserable night in west London and the sky is straining to snow. So what we're all looking for is hearty, warming food, the sort that reaches out from the plate and gives you a cuddle. Patio is just the place for this kind of fare. As we stepped in from the cold we found ourselves in the drawing room of an elderly Polish aunt - gilt mirrors, dusty pictures on the wall, hanging drapes and candlelit tables. The air was filled with the heady scent of slow-cooked meat and roasting vegetables - the effect instantly welcoming.

The set menu is currently £15.40 for three courses, with decent wine at around £13 a bottle. Baskets of sourdough bread were brought to the table first, before we studied the charming hand-written menus to choose from 8 starters and 8 mains. Starters arrived prompty: blini with smoked salmon, sour cream and beetroot, red borscht, a deeply flavoursome hunter's stew or "bigos" which seemed to have been cooked slowly for at least a year, herrings with sour cream, Polish ham with salad and potato cakes with .... you guessed it, sour cream. Mains were equally delicious, and there was a lot of choice: I had the home-made dumplings (pierogi) which were stuffed with meat, cabbage and cheese. Others had meltingly tender lamb, sea bass in garlic butter, stuffed cabbage leaves and Polish-style duck. To accompany these already generous portions, the waitress brought out bowl after bowl of vegetables: red cabbage, beetroot, a sort of coleslaw with beans (really tasty), carrots, stewed apple and an enormous platter of roast potatoes.

After this culinary onslaught, our digestive systems were given a quick clean by shots of flavoured vodka (included in the set menu), ranging from honey and cherry to lemon, plum and chilli. These were chased by slices of pink grapefruit, orange and melon, and bite-sized coconut cakes. At this stage we were begging for mercy, but the food kept coming: dense Polish cheesecake, moist apple cake, an alcohol-rich poppy seed cake, creme caramel and pancakes. This is not a restaurant for anyone watching their waistlines ... or with heart complaints for that matter. But after this cornucopia of Eastern European delights, not one of us cared! Bring out more goose fat, we shouted exuberantly. As we staggered out into the still diabolically cold night, and shuddered with culture shock (we all forgot we were in London for a few hours, a pleasing experience), we made our ways home waddling like Santa. Highly recommended, a very amusing and fun night.
