We've had such a great dinner at "home" last night again !

The food and wine was simply fantastic and we haven't had such attentive and polite waiters in a restaurant for a while. Great atmosphere - there's really no place like home...

It seems that Home is putting itself on the map big time these days. I went there for a fabulous dinner last Monday. Monday's are 50% off food bill day, and it was actually my first visit at the venue in 6 months as I've just got back from travelling - so the 50% off was actually v.handy! I have to say that the place is truly glowing.

A recent refurbishment, new art work from Pure Evil's Gallery adorning the walls and a fab team in the kitchen were noted, and I have since found out they've also been hosting some cracking weekend parties in the basement bar downstairs with local promotors and djs. This venue is fast becoming a real pioneer in the area.

I have already booked for Christmas dinner for my group of friends, and can't wait to go back home!

We' ve just retured from a wonderfull evening at "home".

This restaurant seems to be a hidden treasure in the middle of shoreditch. We were seated by a very polite and attentive waiter in one of the stylish and really cosy seventies designer chairs that make a big difference to all these uber-clean looking restaurants we have recently visited. Everything at "home" seems to be carefully selected and arranged.

Starting with some delicious foccacia bread and olives we enjoyed looking at the impressive winelist containing some interesting rarities from all around the world .We chose a french reserve syrah at a very pleasing pricerange (only £28 !).

Foodwise, my girlfriend went for an endive salad with roquefort and spicy walnuts and I' ve had a very tasty duck ham with foie gras . For mains we both enjoyed a extraordinate Ribeyesteak for which we will definitely return.

Conclusion: Beautiful restaurant, excellent service and brilliant food.

Maybe our new favourit restaurant ( they also have a special 50%off offer on mondays....)? Thanks for making our anniversary so special !

Returned to home last night for birthday celebration with friends and was very disappointed. The atmosphere in the restaurant was non existent infact we were only one of three tables taken during the entire evening - I was really surprised.

The staff although polite were not very attentive - I had to ask three times for a cocktail menu. Not great at the best of times but unacceptable when a place is virtually empty.

The staff insisted on leaving the front door open - 'to attract customers' and despite being seated right at the back - I eventually put on my coat as the draft made it really chilly and unpleasant.

The food was OK - I have eaten better and much worse.

Went to Home for dinner had not been there for some time, not for at least five months.Did not have a good meal very average pub food fare then. I understand a new chef and owners have come on board at home so decided to give it another chance. Had One of the most memorable meals i can remember, the Oyster with cucumber dressing was fantastic, great fresh oysters. My partner had the duck ham and is was sublime. For Mains I had the Lamb is was so tender I could have cut it with a credit card great dish real highlight. My Partner had the Sea bass which looked amazing was cooked perfectly, really lovely dish, loved the sauce, licked it clean from the plate. We shared a dessert of Chocolate Fondant, probably the best fondant we have ever tried amazing ice cream too!!! All in All Home has exceeded our expectations, will be back soon and will be spreading the good word. The service was great and friendly, It was so good that home is back where is should be as a great place to relax and have good food. I am so glad we gave Home a second chance!!!! we will be back soon!!!

We used to go here all the time when we lived in East London and always loved it. We thought making the trip back there from SE London would be well worth the taxi fare but were we wrong! I have no idea what happened but it seems that since September, EVERYTHING and EVERYONE there has changed, apart from the warm focaccia and olives which are still delicious. Staff didn't seem to care too much whereas before, they always seemed friendly and happy doing their job.

The menu changed dramatically (due to a new head chef after enquiring) and even though I think change can be good, it has to be done better otherwise it's not worth changing it. The ingredients used on the menu's dishes don't scream summer but are rather heavy and not greatly inspiring. Our starters of breaded deep fried calamari and oysters both got raped by the sauces on the side - chilli sauce (the sticky one) for the calamri and almost pure vinegar for the oysters.

My husbands risotto with spring veggies was overcooked and tasteless whilst my whole sea bass was (I have to say) deliciously cooked but totally overpowered and ruined by a gravy like sauce which was poured over.

My glass of white wine was not cold which added to the negative experience.

Our waitress didnt even bother to ask how our food was but i told her anyway, not to embarass her of course, but hopefully other diners do the same which hopefully will make the owners have a think. It would be a shame otherwise!

a group of us booked this restaurant/ bar for a friend's 30th after reading some of the positive reviews documented. however, i found it a disappointing experience due to a number of issues.

We were offered a set a la carte menu at £23 for 2 course or £27 for 3 course. This you may think is not a bad deal. However, there were no vegetarian options (some people in party were vegetarian). When asked, we were given their (standard menu). It was then that i noted the a la carte dishes alongside a wider variety of course. The main course average fin the standard menu ranged rom £12 - £16. This meant that if you wanted a main and desset, under the set 'a la carte' menu a dessert of say ice cream that was offered would actually work out at between £7 - £11!!!. When I highlighted this to the waitress, she just shrugged and said that their creme brulee normally costs about £8 'a la carte' menu aside. I am sorry but the 'a la carte' menu is A RIP OFF ploy!!!!

Secondly, the ceiling above our table sprung a leak, and one of the party got soaked in water. What was insulting was they barely uttered an apology to our wet friend or offered her a towel even. They just got us to stand up and drag our table (3 of the party were pregnant) over to one side with the leak still hovering close by us. One eye on the food, one eye on the leak!!!!

There was not even a gesture of apology such as a free drink for our wet friend. This also occurred when our main dishes arrived, so as we were dragging our table our food was also being placed on the (moving) table.

By the time the commotion had calmed down, and we sat down to eat our (small substandard) main courses they were cold.

The tables were laid out well, but with 6 bottlesof mineral water already in place (which we had not asked for) and found out they actualy cost £3 each. This is a cheeky tactic to push (unwanted) bottled water

Another disappointment was the dessert. I opted for treacle tart as did most of the party (we had a vast choice of treacle, creme brulee or ice cream all a bargain at £11!!!!!)

We all left the tart, it was all treacle with a slither of pastry - a may as well have just sat their with a tin of syrup in front of me!

Finally, the service was desperately slow (although all smiles and politeness). Our table was booked for 7.30pm, we finally settled the bill at 11pm!!!

Although the interior was designed well, there were so many factors that made this a thoroughly disappointing and (undeserved) over priced substandard evening.

If you want value for money, decent 'a la carte' food and want to keep yourself dry don't come to home. It most certainly wasn't much of a 'home'

Haven't been to Home in a while, but will be making more of an effort to go back. Had a great menu: 2 courses for £12..50. The food was terrific, wine amazing, staff fabulous. What more can you say......

I've just moved into the area & found this little gem of a restaurant & bar.

It was good to find a restaurant serving superb british food. The place was very relaxed (hence the name), everything was right, the ambience, food, music & the service was great!

Highly reccommend this one!!!!

I've commented on some of the reviews below, but I should add that I've had the misfortune of trying to eat here. I've got no problems with the (wannabe) bar if that's what you want, but if you tack on a restaurant (or "kitchen") you should really make more of an attempt to provide restaurant standards. Staff got our orders wrong and insisted that it was our mistake -- that attitude was enough to make us leave.
