Quincy's

My association with Quincy's goes way back to 1970s. When I first came across it it was run by a chef called Michael who hadn't had a night off for many years! He was then joined by a friend of mine, Jack Henderson who in the end took over from Michael as chef and was there for a few years. I last went back about 10 year ago and the food was very similar to that of the 1970s - still very good, small range of choices and packed as always. I was very sad to hear that it had finally ceased to be after such a long time.

We agree with Brigitte Naveau's comments. Before we moved out of London, Quincy's was a local restaurant and our favourite in terms of food and ambience. When we moved away, we continued to eat there but not as frequently. Then one day we made a booking only to be told that there had been a change in management 3 weeks before. We went anyway but it was not the same. The restaurant did not survive for much longer. Originally, David opened for 5 days per week. Later, he started trying to open every day and we can only assume that it became too much for him. Its only fault as far as we were concerned was the lack of space between tables but this was probably inevitable given the small size of the restaurant. The food was consistantly excellent and overall package represented very good value. We would also be interested to know whether David Wardle is now involved in another restaurant venture.
