This is a difficult one. You either love it or loathe it.
Firstly the service here is second to none, we are always greeted as old friends. The portions are on the small side but I'm not sure that is such a bad thing as with a lot of Chinese restaurants they over do the quantity and under do the quality! Not so here. The food is quality and is neither over salted or swimming in oil/grease. The prices do make you draw breath but it's best to have a meal here once every two months than a bog standard Chinese every week. I did avoid the wine though (not cheap) and stuck to Tiger beer. Love the place!

Returned after an absence of over five years. It was saturday lunch time and the place was only half full and we blanched a little at the prices on the menu and then blanched again when we saw the size of the portions. But, my God, the food was good. Each dish, an old stand-by like sweet and sour prawns for the kids or an exotic chicken dish with chilli and mango were all quite simply delicious. The lightly steamed vegetables were divine and even the shredded duck with pancakes were flavoursome and far better than your average. My advice - ignore the prices and enjoy excellent food.

Over priced, bad service, very small portions and the quality not really on par with the price! Not worth the money at all.

On the way back from a customer last week and rather than race back for the usual pret sandwich we decided to stop here for a quick bite. I've often passed this branch of the Good Earth and was keen to compare it to it's Knightsbridge stable mate. It was absolutly tipping it down so once we had negotiated the very strange one way system around the outside of the mill hill roundabout we parked up and ran into the restaurant. The staff were very friendly on entering and I readily took up their offer to hang up and dry out my jacket. I wasn'y massively busy inside but several tables were occupied by regulars. We sat down and ordered a dish each and a couple of portions of rice. The menu is the same as Knightsbridge with the same toppy prices. I stopped going there a few years ago as I found it expensive especially if you had a drink. As I we were working we just had soft drinks but the bill was still fairly expensive especially for Mill Hill.
Having said that the food was very nice indeed. The lamb cooked with chilli was very tasty as was my chicken dish. Nice flavours not too greasy and it didn't leave me thirsty all afternoon. The service was very good and I could tell the staff here make a real effort to cultivate return business. The regular who forgot his wallet was told not a problem and to pay when he came in next week. Similarly the couple with a young baby were shown to a nice table and well looked after. The interior is pretty standard chinese restaurant 101 but then who wants to stare out at the A41? Not sure I would make a detour to dine here but it's worth negotiating the one way system for and it was a good refuge from the driving rain.

I went on a Friday evening and it was packed but why? The small amount of food was nothing to write home about and the wine and food was overpriced beyond belief! With 10% service charge. The only really good thing was the service. It was very good. But I eat with my mouth and I was not there to be seen with the in-crowd or the atmosphere.. Been to many many better restuarants in London at half the price.

Amazing! I LOVED it! I've been to the Good Earth many times and each time it's been wonderful! It's a bit over priced but i'm willing to pay. Expect me soon at the BIG table for my whole family!

Pretty average restaurant with good food, high prices and the most awkward parking in the world.
I liked the food. Honestly. I thought it was really nice. Some of the portions were on the sparing side, which was a shame, but what arrived was nice.
Service was the best aspect in that it was attentive and courteous. It was never difficult to get anyone's attention and all queries were answered promptly.
The decor was pretty standard fare. Nothing particularly outstanding, but quite nice. Very very clean.
The only real disappointment was the price. I felt it was too steep relative to the size of the portions.
Lastly, if you're driving here, consult the map before you leave, park on a backstreet somewhere and walk. Don't do what I did and circle the roundabout a dozen times, wondering what to do!
I wouldn't avoid this restaurant. But I wouldn't make a bee-line for it either.

Food was good (the hot and sour soup was disappointing) but the portion sizes were about 40% smaller than I am used to in chinese restaurants. So as far as value for money is concerned I would not go back. Royal China on Baker Street has better food, is cheaper per dish, and gives a more generous portion.
