Love it ! The new menu is great and slightly cheaper than before making a midweek meal in the restaurant much more affordable rather than a special treat!!

Can't recommend it enough.

I ate here the other day and I echo what the last few reviewers have said. Great food at reasonable prices and the dining room is totally different to the bar so if you want a romantic meal dine upstairs and meet friends downstairs afterwards.Great place with friendly staff.

I often go to the Peasant and although i like the food I have found that the menu was sometimes overly complicated for an ordinary mid week meal -although of very good quality and reasonably priced. However when we went this week they had a new chef and had launched an entirely new menu.

I have to say I was extremely impressed with it and now instead of being somewhere I eat occasionally I will be going more often.

I can thoroughly recommend the scallop starter or the onion and cider soup - both of which were just the right size and delicious. I had the venison for main and my co-diners had the beef. Again both were of exceptionally good quality and very reasonably priced. I shared a dessert but again thoroughly enjoyed it. The wines we had too were chosen by the manager for us and were well priced and complimented the food really well.

I also thought the new menu covers were a nice touch and as always the service in the restaurant was superb.

All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience!! Well done.

Would like to add my rave review to the others about the Peasant. Went there yesterday for Sunday lunch with three others and a baby in a pram. The owner greeted us personally and set it up so we had a decent amount of room around our table, even sorting out one of the downstairs doors to accommodate the pram so that nobody would barge in behind us. Decor very nice, what a good gastropub should look like.

The food was delicious - apparently they have a new chef and he is making his mark. Particularly appealing was the suckling roast pork and the beef roast. I had kippers and the accompanying bubble and squeak and poached egg were just right. Very nice selection of beers and good wine list too. My only regret is I was too full to finish the incredibly rich but moreish brownie with hazelnut ice cream. Will find an excuse to return for Sunday lunch soon!

Went here the Friday before Xmas and it was packed. Great atmosphere, sat at a lovely table in the bar and had a wonderful meal.

The menu was very seasonal and had a great selection. The staff are really pleasant, the food was wonderful, great sized portions and really tasty.

We'll definitely be heading here again soon.

Try it you won't be disappointed.

Spent the best part of Saturday afternoon enjoying the nice bar food and drinks served at the Peasant. I now wish I had booked the upstairs restaurant offering more unsual dishes. that'll be for next time ...

Nice staff. Nice interior with some original features, such as mosaique floor, part tiling on the walls

We recently took my Dad to the Peasant for lunch for his 70th birthday, after first discovering it via a friend's wedding reception. It was again a lovely experience. The food was excellent and our waitress on the day (Oct. 17) was a gem, finding a novel way to attach birthday candles to my cake-disliking Dad's cheese plate. It's fast becoming a favourite.

Had Sunday lunch (large group of us) at the Peasant and a great experience. Menu a little limited but varied and something for everyone - very good, fresh, quality food. Lovely pub atmosphere and restaurant upstairs light, airy and nicely decked out. Staff helpful throughout. Only downside was that toilet was tiny and difficult to change baby's nappy :-)

Would definitely return in the future. Very happy to find a place online that lived up to expectations.

We booked The Peasant to celebrate our friends birthday. We were able to reserve a space in the bar for some pre dinner drinks, then we went up for dinner in their newly revamped terrace area. We were really glad that we made a reservation as it got really busy in the bar and we were particularly well looked after.

We had an amazing time upstairs and the food was fantastic. The menu was totally unexpected and quite unusual.

I can't say enough about this place except you must try it. The service was faultless, what a great find, we can't wait to go back.

My husband and I dined at The Peasant last Saturday night. We moved into the area (Islington) 3 months ago and have dined out locally virtually every Saturday night since the move. The Peasant offered us one of the nicest experiences yet! The food was excellent and the atmosphere upstairs was lovely (you would have to be a smoker to enjoy eating downstairs in the bar!
