Would not recommend this place to anyone. The service was terrible, and i found the food bland and overpriced! This is the second time i have been there, once during the week and the other over a weekend- both night were quiet!
Never again!

Just got back from my first - and probably last meal there...
Ambience-wise it was very noisy indeed. Our waiter forgot to bring menus to start with and when the food eventually arrived it didn't arrive at the same time.
Menu was full of yummy sounding things - but some portions were very small, and it was hard to understand exactly what you could order with what - as different things are available on the set and a la carte menu's.
Three out of the four of us enjoyed our food - really let down by the service. The bill included an 'optional service charge' to which VAT had already been added - so to ask for a deduction would have caused a scene, so I paid, but I felt that the service did NOT justify the tip - probably why I'm bothering to write this.

Had my 50th birthday party at The terrace on friday 29 june with 30 ladies what a special day it was.I will always remember how everyone involve on the day have made my birthday so special.
To describe this local restaurant in the heart of kensington you have to try it
yourself. I have been to The Terrace on number of occasion , always have been a great experience for me and my friends whom i have introduce in the past.
Its a pity with the rainning season at the moment difficult to sit on the outside terrace but still we find this place amazing. might not be the busiest resto in london still service , food and lovely staff are always 100% commited.

My wife and I had some happy experiences at The Terrace .... in 2002. So we decided to renew our acquaintance on a beautiful summery day. This was a mistake.
Either the owners don't have a clue or don't care. Most likely, it's both. For two courses and one glass of wine each, we managed to spend £75. For that, we got to sit on a nice terrace and that was about it.
Our waitress did not speak a single word of English which caused some problems throughout - and that tiresome need to repeat everything several times that is nowadays all too familiar in London. Our menus appear to have been printed on my home fax machine, with last week's food stains on top.
The food was tasteless yet generously peppered with red chilli. This was true of my leak and red onion tart, as of my swordfish and my wife's chicken. The wine list is poor to indifferent while more expensive than at restaurants of equivalent pretensions.
I left with a taste of salt in my mouth, all too happy to return home for pudding and coffee. Avoid.

I went to this restaurant on Sat 17th Feb with 6 members of my family including my 9 year old niece. I have to say this is the nicest restaurant I have ever been to, the atmosphere was fantastic, the service was impeccable and the food was fantastic. From the start we were made to feel very welcome, the lady (who I think owns it) treated my niece like a princess, we were looked after amazingly well. Even though the restaurant its self is quite small, it was constantly busy. The food was perfect everything from our starters to our deserts was spot on. I can honestly say that I will go back to this restaurant and I will be telling every one I know to go there. I would like to thank the staff for being so accommodating especially with my niece. Well done a truly fantastic evening was had by all.

Well having been at the restaurant a lot of time and live localy myself. This must be the best cosy local restaurant in Kensington. My husband wanted to have an office party in december for his staff at the last minute as we are regular customers at The terrace so he decide to have the party there. How wonderful that evening was. Live Jazz music, friendly staff was amazing. Will always recommend this little restaurant to everyone who want to give a try.The food, the staff, the ambiance are wonderful.

I have been at this restaurant a couple of times. Both were HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES. the first time my friend's food, the duck, at £21.50 was extremely overcooked. It was just like trying to cut a rock. When we complained the waitress took our plate away, saying she'll speak with the chef. Two minutes later, we hear someone screaming (very, very loudly!) and the waitress comes and says that the chef thinks the duck is ok!We asked her to take it away again and we shared my very dry guineafowl... and when the bill came the duck was included!
the waitress looked very embarrased and said that the chef said that my friend had eaten some of the duck and he was the owner !(my friend had tasted a little bit and he sent it back straight away)... we refused to pay for the duck and the "chef" came and started shouting at us. It was one of the worst nights in my life. Months after that some friends invited me for dinner...they had booked in the terrace. Even after I told them the story they insisted we went, saying that maybe the chef was stressed and probably he would apologize to me now. Two of us ordered steak medium rare and I ordered lamb. The waitress (not the same one as before) got it wrong and brought two lambs...and again the screams and again the waitress coming back (crying!!) saying that she was sorry...blah blah... and at the end we discovered that the crying woman was the wife of the chef-owner!! overall: mad owners, bad food, overpriced...dreadful!

We had a very nice meal here on a hot Saturday evening, sitting on the terrace and enjoying the warm night air. Tremendous salady starters, and inventive mains - not the cheapest restaurant in London, but not pricey either for the food. Good wine list with strongest selection in £18-£30 range, with some unusual and good wines.
