Went here for the first time with 8 guests to celebrate my wedding. We arrived at half 2 on Thursday and the bar and restaurant area were pretty much empty. We were hoping to go in the garden to smoke but were told that they did not have a license to let people out there! Bit of a disappointment as it looked like a nice little space and it was a very sunny day, so we ended up on the narrow pavement outside for half the time (our fault for being smokers I suppose!)
The menu was pretty striaghtforward, nothing too exotic- which was what I wanted as many of the people in my party had quite conservative tastes. I ordered the fillet steak (the most expensive thing-£21, but hey, it was my wedding day!) and asked for it medium rare. When it arrived it was well done! Not pink, but tough and brown all the way through, and it came with the tiniest drizzle of gravy which tasted lovely but did little the annoint the lump of overcooked meat I had not ordered! My friends tried to get me to complain but I didn't want to cause a fuss, though if it had been any other day I would definitely have demanded a new one.
Overall a good time was had by all, with some of my guests speaking highly of the grilled fish, though I couldnt help noticing my husband didn't get further than a couple of bites of his burger and it did look rahter raw inside (should have been the fillet that looked like that!)
It served its purpose well enough but the prices seemed quite high for want you get, but being a Wimbledon virgin maybe those are just standard prices. It seemed like an extremely well-to-do area.

Went to the Fire Stables on Saturday evening. The place was packed. The service and food was excellent. Had a delicious salmon and my wife had the chicken. She loved it.
The puddings were a bit overpriced and average but overall, we had a very pleasnt evening, served by a charnming and attentive waiter.
There has been a few changes since my last visit. The place looks a lot cleaner, and the food's improved.

Saturday was our first and last visit to the Fire Stables. My tiger prawn starter had to be sent back as they were awful and our main courses had to be sent back (my salmon was undercooked in the middle which I know some people like but I prefer mine cooked through, whilst my husband's medium-well steak was served up medium-rare). It took around half an hour for my husband's re-cooked steak to be served at which point our friends and I had finished eating.
When cooked properly the food was okay but not really worth the price we would have paid if the main courses hadn't been deducted from the bill. The seating is too cramped and the acoustics are awful. The only high point was the good service we received from our waitress but we won't be returning.

From being one of the best place to eat in the village it in now without doubt the worst. The place seems to have been on the slide for several years mostly due to the standard of the food. This problem has been compounded by a new management team who it seems have been tasked with running the place into the ground. I commend them on the gusto with which they are carrying out their task.
Had a simlair experience to the person below who found their waiter to be slightly unbalaced although when the restraunt quietened down it the waiter appologised for the service and quietly pointed out that the new "managenment" had embarked on a cost cutting excercise meaning that as the only waiter working on a busy night he was wofully overstretched. On my way out of the door I tried to have a quick word with the manager I found him to be one of the more dislikable characters I have ever come across. He was both rude and obnoxious.
I can only conclude that I am never likely to return to this place.

This restaurant is the worst place I have ever been to.
8.30 pm ordered
9.30 pm - chased our food
9.40 pm - waitress comes over to say our food is on its way
9.50 pm - waitress tells us the food we ordered is not longer available.
Sorry guys i came to you 2 years ago and it was rubbish and was willing to come back - never ever again.
