I guess the 6.5 star rating is an accurate a guide for this establishment.

Bread served but no plate or side plate, ho, hum.

Main course - boiled beef - beef and veg - perfect, spoiled by over salted and very ordinary (bisto?) stock. Micro mini dumplings. Chips - burnt, you could smell it !

Other mains courses were ok I guess, guests did not complain but suggested very ordinary.

Dessert was good, apple was perfect, very good value for the price, highly recomended.

Waitresses - polite, attentive, however they speak with the volume turned up,

A repeat visit last Saturday lunchtime confirmed our previous impressions that this is a pretty good restaurant and decent value. There was a lot on the menu I could happily have eaten, but settled for a small portion of a very good broad bean and pea risotto followed by excellent pork cheeks with maybe the best mash I've had anywhere. My wife's meal was equally good though she'd make special mention of the Banana tatin with Marscapone cream she had for dessert. We've had a few meals here, all at least decent and this possibly the best. We do tend to go when the place is very quiet, so I can't tell how the kitchen and the waiters would respond to a rush, but I can only speakas I've found,

A Girl Has To Eat

A Girl Has To Eat - 7/10

Friday, November 13, 2009 - The decor at Sonny's is very appealing. As you walk through the entrance and past the bar, the room reveals itself to be long in length with creamed walls, white table clothes, walnut seats and oak wood floors. I ordered a lobster and white crab tortellini with a caramelised scallop and butternut squash. The scallop, nicely crisped, was lovely. It was slightly undercooked which gave it a lovely opaque colour and a nice firm texture. The tortellini had been generously filled with lobster and crab. The pasta was cooked al dente although I think a drizzling of, say, a beurre noisette, would have been a nice addition.
