A group of us met up and walked in around lunch time and we found ourselves to be the only diners there. Now, Mango Tree is really huge with numerous tables and when you find yourselves to be the only table there in such a vast space, it does lend an uncomfortable silence of you-can-hear-a-pin-drop vibe to the place. In fact, we only saw one other occupied table throughout our meal there.

After our lunch, all I can say is that the whole meal was quite forgettable and I wasn't blown away by any of the dishes.

Went here on a Saturday night with friends and had the festive menu. The place was absolutely packed which may be the reason for both the incredibly slow service (1 hr between sitting at table and receiving food) and the low standard of the food. Without exception I can't recommend any item off the menu, and we were lucky (?) enough to sample all the dishes (choice of 5 for starter and mains, no choice for dessert). Very uninspiring and unlikely to return for food. Cocktails nice though!

Was at The Mango Tree on Wed. 9/11/11 with my Husband and Son, booking through Top Table. The menu seemed fine but the food was awful. The fishcake starter was like a thin piece of edible rubber and my main of seafood was cold as was the rice. Son had yellow curry which was dreadful as well. My husband and I were staying with another Son in London, who has a Thai wife, and we were treated to delicious Thai food at their home, so I do know what Thai food is supposed to taste like. The bill was just under £60 for a two course with two small bottles of beer. What a waste of money. Watched the restaurant on Gordon Ramsay so were really disappointed. Restaurant was fine as the staff, just the awful food.

My boyfriend and I came here for a special occasion. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. While the restaurant itself is nicely set up and decorated and the staff are smart, polite and professional, the food left much to be desired. Our starters were average at best and tasteless at worst. I had to send back my main dish of steamed seabass due to major overcooking. It was tough, chewy and very bland. After waiting 20 minutes for a different main dish, by which time my boyfriend had already finished his, I was very disappointed with a chicken pad tai. Average and bland yet again, which is unacceptable for the price ranges in this restaurant.

We decided to go there on our 13th wedding anniversary after hearing good reviews about the restaurant. Unfortunately it did not turn out to be a lovely dinner at all. The food was average and very small portion. I had a Thai green curry and it had about 4 piece of chicken in it. It was the same for my hubby as well. He ordered seafood dish and very little fish. Overall very unhappy with the taste and very expensive as well. The service was very slow as well! Would not recommend.

The best Thai restaurant in the world by a mile.

The food has always been gone, on all 3 visits. service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere busy but fun.

The negative reviews are a shock to me because I honestly could not fault this restaurant. Will be back soon.

I had dinner at the Mango Tree with my fiance and brother-in-law last week and feel like we were completely short-changed. Despite reserving a table days in advance, we were made to wait unceremoniously for 45 minutes while a distracted host catered to at least 12 parties that arrived after us and showed them to tables. It was only after we raised objections to this impartial treatment that we were shown to our table.

In the beginning, we were mesmerised by the beautiful decor, music and the general ambience. I have to give Mango Tree decent marks for this although the toilets were disgusting. The many waiters and waitresses flitted around with radios giving the impression of a rather busy service hour without actually doing much. Our order for wine was taken three times by different serveurs. The food, when it arrived, was overrated RUBBISH. We had bland pork balls, barely-cooked squid and fairly decent quail eggs to start with. For main courses we had green corn-fed chicken curry, grilled tiger prawn and pork belly, all of which were distinctly forgettable. My fiance did not receive his main until we had completed ours. We had to constantly ask the many waiters/ waitresses about the pork belly until it finally arrived 30 minutes after the first two mains were served and 60 minutes after the order was initially placed. Surely it doesn't take 60 minutes to grill pork belly!

I have had better dinner at my local Thai restaurant. How does Mango Tree justify such ridiculous prices given the poor quality of the food and service? It appears that we paid for the ambience rather than the dinner and it felt like daylight robbery.

I will definitely not be going back again and urge people who enjoy their food to steer clear of Mango Tree.

If you want to splash your cash and be seen eating at an over-hyped restaurant (notwithstanding the rubbish service and food), this is your heaven!

We visited the Mango Tree for my birthday with our 3 children.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic and arrived very quickly.

We all enjoyed every course even the children. The value for money was excellent and we would definitely go back and also recommend it to others.

Last week I had dinner at the Mango Tree in Belgravia with a group of friends. We were given a perfect round table for six which meant we could all chat together and no one was left out. The restaurant was very busy – a great energy but the restaurant’s acoustics meant that it wasn’t too noisy. We ordered plate after plate to share. Everything from the pad thai goag to the larb pla tuna to the lavender ice cream were devine. Served beautifully by attentive staff. Light, flavour some and delicious. We’ll be back soon!

++ : food is really tasty, lot of choices, waiters are pleasant, cocktails are great, we did not wait long either to be seated or to be served, they are really organised,

- - : it is very noisy, you sit very close to other people if you sit at a table for two, food and drinks are quite expensive even if the quality is very good (we paid 160 pounds for a two courses meal + 2 glasses of red wine + 2 cocktails)
