Me and a group of friends decided to eat at browns, i had the salmon which was nothing special, i spent most of the time picking the small bones out, of course i dont mind the odd one but the amount that was there was ridiculous! a few of my friends said the sauce on some of the dishes was very bland and tasted of flour, the service was also not at all good, the girl who was serving us seemed to literally 'plonk' the dishes down on the table and seemed annoyed that we asked for a little more time to go over the dessert menue. The cocktails however were very nice!

what a rip off!!! I can cook better myself...seriously. Overpriced restaurant with less than averaged service. Won't go back even the meal was free.

Everything about dining here was awful. The service was beyond a joke and the food was very very average. When I complained - they didn't care. Visit this establishment at your peril!

I have eaten here on several occasions due to working nearby. I would never go to a Browns again under my own free will. The food is over-priced and very poor. Bearnaise Sauce doesn't come with Tarragon, instead you're left with a simmering, tasteless pot of pure butter. They serve up entire Camemberts heated in a microwave as a starter which even the most hearty would find impossible to eat. Alternatively £7.50 buys you precisely three "tiger" prawns in cheese sauce. I've encountered larger tadpoles.

Waiters ignore you. Steaks arrive over-cooked or under cooked. Other main courses are re-heated or on one occasion not de-frosted. In short if you don't like food and enjoy paying over the odds for mediocre ingredients incompetently thrown together by "chefs" whose skills stretch as far as microwave cuisine, then this is the place for you. They will take you for granted, treat you like a sucker and send you away again feeling utterly cheated by the experience. You may as well go to a Berni's or Little Chef as at least they don't have the ridiculous pretension that they are delivering Michelin starred food.

I've made the error of going along for lunch or dinner with colleagues on about five or six occassions now over a three year period, each time thinking "It can't be that bad again. Must have been an off day." All such illusions are rapidly dispelled within minutes of ordering. I simply cannot understand how these numptys keep going. When you pay such prices you expect quality. You sure don't get that at Browns in the City. This is up there with the very worst eating experiences I have ever endured.

We went to Browns as a last minute suggestion and it was brilliant. From the food to the service.

For starters we had a lovely tiger prawns with cream leeks which went down a treat, then the Browns' steak, mushroon and Guiness pie. Both where fantastic.

The cocktails where also nice but we did have to wait for a while for them to be made due to them being done from scratch.

The only downfall was being sat by the door and getting a chill every time it was opened but I supose this is something I have to expect from being a smoker. All in all a brilliant night with good service.
