Villandry

The restaurant seems to be under new management & ownwership and I must say what an improvement! We dined this evening and it was obviously busy. We were greeted and seated with a friendly smile and the staff were accomodating and enthusiastic to the end. The food was excellent, though the only downpoint would be the incomplete charcuterie.

I love Villandry's pastries, so I jumped at the chance to eat in their restaurant. However I was dreadfully disappointed by the service, as two of our meals arrived so far in advance of the other two that if they hadn't been eaten they would have been stone cold. The waiters were also very hard to get hold of, and i thought it was a bit cheeky that they kept opening up new bottles of water without asking first. For the amount they charge for the food, they should be able to afford better staff. I'll stick to the pastries in future.

I always read this comments but have never felt the need to contribute...until today! I popped in to Villandry this morning around 11am - simply because I was killing time and I really fancied a glass of champagne and a sit down with the paper. It was a totally decadent moment (and far too hot for coffee.) The restaurant had only 10-12 customers and yet the service was absolutely atrocious! I was left waiting without acknowledgement of my prescence for a good 15 mins. Later still I sat with an empty glass in front of me for a further 10 mins before finally having the opportunity to ask for the bill. And then they have the audacity to take 10% service!!! Such a shame because has the potential to be such a well frequented place. I shant be returning.

went on Saturday with mt sister and her little girl for lunch, as we ate a delicious summery lunch my niece joined the Cookie Making Class. She had a ball and managed to stay 'clean' thanks to the aprons provided.

The food was great, fresh, tasty and great value for money, staff friendly and attentive a great place for a weekend lunch.

On a recent visit to London we ate three times at Villandry. We had lunch, a family dinner, + small boy who was entertained extremely well by patient child-friendly staff - and a breakfast. All were excellent, and I can't speak highly enough of the staff who were prepared to accommodate my medical diet requiring no or minimal fat or oil. They couldn't have been more understanding and helpful, and even cooked a grilled chicken breast with as little oil as possible - delicious! We were nearly put off by the adverse review we had read on this site - I am glad we were not!
