Browns (Mayfair)

We were entertaining friends from South Africa for lunch, as soon as we walked in to Browns of Maddox Street we were met by friendly staff who showed us to a table where we would be quiet, as requested. The food was excellent, the wine very reasonable and the service just right, helpful and pleasant. We spent a very happy afternoon and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Went with group of friend on Saturday evening. The location and interior was good. The atmosphere lacked some nice music and proper service. We had to call waitress everytime we wanted something. The food was quite basic. The ribeye steak was dry and overcooked (I later got some gravey from the kitchen) and the pita style starters had a brown souce over which one of my mates jokingly compared to marmite. Dessert pretty average too. Overall I suppose a decent value for money pub and grub for the location, but not if youre after some good food.

I've never been before but popped in on a Monday evening for a bite to eat with a friend. The atmosphere was quite cosy, the interior is upscale and relaxed at the same time. Great half circle booths as you walk in, but we sat a normal table near the bar. I had a great seafood platter for around £10 and the recommendation that I would not need a side salad or anytihng else was much appreciated. There was about 8 different dishes on there, smoked salmon, prawns, rollmops with onion, other smoked fish and salads..plenty for a main course. My friend had fish&chips and it looked very appetizing. Amazing value for money, professional service, not stuffy or pretentious. Will definitely be going back soon. Highly recommend -

I took my mum here for Afternoon Tea and was extremely impressed by the food, the quantity provided and the value.
It was £6.50 per person. We each had two rounds of sandwiches (fresh salmon and cucumber, with crusts removed of course!), a warm scone with jam and cream and two generous slices of fruit cake, and shared a pot of tea. It was delicious - and filling! - and I found it to be very, very good value.
I would definitely go again for both the food and ambience.

I took my colleagues to Browns (having printed out the menu first so as to be completely sure what we wanted to eat).
I started with the St Tropez tomato which was interesting. I then had one of their famed "starters and lighter dishes". It was "Air Dried Ham with Pinapple" that tickled my fancy and my it was good. Fruit and meat so effortlessly combined. For the main course I continued the tomato theme with "Roasted Tomato and Beetroot Risotto" which to be fair was slightly heavy on the beetroot. All in all an excellent day out. Avoid the Panacotta. A little too eggy.
Thanks cheers
