Couldn't fault the food and the service. Although I wouldn't have minded a dessert menu to peruse rather than being told what was on offer. As for the atmosphere..... I couldn't breathe for the smoke. I really think a restaurant this size should be completely non-smoking. As it is there isn't even a non-smoking section. That stinks - quite literally.

Last week with two friends - table outside, great food (think tasty and hearty), great recommendation of wine, and charming, friendly service. I am honestly not related to the owners, but love this restaurant to bits - there is a certain familiar warmth to the delivery of everything whilst it maintains its subtle cool.

I took my girlfriend to Aurora recently, as I was told it was similar to Andrew Edmunds, but I must say I was disappointed. Our white wine was warm, our bread didn't arrive (although they tried to charge us for it) and the food was pretty uninspiring. The atmosphere and service were ok, but I wouldn't call it good value for money. My advice is check out Andrew Edmunds across the road, it's in a different league. They do everything far better, and for less money.

I'm almost reticent to review this place. If I subject Aurora to a tirade, and describe the shoddy service, crap food and abysmal ambiance I encountered then perhaps the restaurant will remain known only to a few. Unfortunately, I lack that Selfish Gene. Aurora is possibly the finest restaurant I've ever visited in London. The food was excellent, the menu displaying a mastery of both the familiar and the unusual. The service was equally balanced, neither too overbearing nor too attentive. My companion declared the wine list 'just right' and the space itself is just right too. It accommodates up to 20 diners, with an additional tiny garden space for use in Summer. When I visited, I was struck not only by the gentle sound of perfectly pitched Johnny Cash but also by the stunning artworks on display. They've tuned the atmosphere perfectly. We dined at Balaans the previous night (dreadful), and the contrast between the two experiences could not be more marked.
Ye Gods, but I'll definitely be back!

Oustanding on every level: superb food, fine selection of wines, truly ambient atmosphere, and - where a lot of restaurants fall down - the service is attentive without being in the slightest bit overbearing. I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world, and Aurora ranks way up there at the top of the list as a wonderful eating experience.

I've been going to the Orrery (which I thought was The Aurora's "posher" sister in the west end) since 2002. I visited the Aurora last week for the first time - and what a gem! The Degustation Menu was every bit as good as the Orrery's Goumand and frankly the service was much better! My compliments to the wine waiter - he was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and made the evening for us. I'm surprised at the comment below from Caroline - we found the service excellent, the tables well spaced and the whole atmosphere very calm and conducive. Give this place a try - and if it's a special occasion go for the Menu Degustation with the wine selection included. You won't be disappointed!
