The staff food and surroundings helped to make me and my wife's first anniversary celebration a very special night. The service was first class, especially as the restaurant was full. The food was very well cooked I will definately travel the 80 miles from my house to eat here again.

Took a friend visiting from overseas to this restaurant as a pre-theatre treat. What a let down. Some of the staff were quite unfriendly. Apart from the starters which were passable, the main courses we ordered (both meat dishes) were too salty and overcooked. The apple tart dessert was dry and juice-less. It does have a good atmophere, but the food and the service on the evening were disappointing to say the least.

Dinner for two on bank Holiday Fri 14th April 2006 8pm. Rest 75% full. Good location and expections let down by poor service and below par food. My order of Fish&chips (yes I know) would have been poor at £4 but £18 was an insult the fish was a poor example of M&S chunky Cod and the chip at best well just soggy lets not go into the pea's & tartar sauce. My partner went for the sea bass, well it was what can i say average. Now let me tell you about the starters. Salmon wrapped scrambled egg & poached egg on mushroom. Well they were good but left you feeling that the next course should be toast & Jam. That takes me to the best offering. The bread was excellent, great varied offerings.

I dined here last night and am glad to say had a very pleasant experience. I am always sceptical of "meal deals" and was hesitant. However, the menu was by no means limited in number or variety of dishes, and the quality of the food was some of the highest Ive had in a good while. The service was also attentive and efficient, a refreshing change in London these days.

If I had to find a negative then I guess it would be the "recommended" 15% service charge - when are restaurants going to realise they cannot keep attempting to extort money from their customers in this way.

Having said that, I would still definitely return purely on the grounds that the Cafe du Jardin managed to achieve something the majority or restaurants certainly do not - simply being able to deliver well above expectations.

I have just had a client lunch this afternoon and I have to say I was very dissapointed with the service we recieved. It was in fact appalling. The waiter took ages and didn't even ask if we wanted any wine. Just started taking our food orders. We then ordered our wine and the glasses were never filled up when we had finished it. In fact we had someone join us later and she sat for 10 mintues before we had to call a waiter so that she could have a drink. This was a late lunch starting at 2:30 and the service was appalling. i would hate to think what the service would be like during your busy periods. The food was really good so would hate to think you would lose customers just on your poor service. Gets your staff trained to be more attentive!

Went here with two friends last night and we had a lovely evening. We had the offer of 3 course meal and a free glass of champagne for £23.50. The menu was not at all restrictive and the food was delicious. The staff were happy to give us our time to relax and enjoy our evening and were also well informed of everything on the menu. All in all an excellent evening and would recommend to anyone for a special evening.

I ate at Le Cafe du Jardin on Saturday after numerous attempts to book at other venues, however the decision albeit by force was far from regrettable!

What impressed me first was the menu, a variety of meats and sefood, however pretty limited for strict vegetarians. I was lucky enough to share the smoked duck starter, which I found to be a bit tough, possibly refrigerated. My main course of sauteed monk fish and shrimp with basmati rice made up for it whilst my companions enjoyed their lamb shanks thoroughly.

The red wine was also delictable.

The service was top notch.

I would definitely recommend to pre-theatre goers and those who like me were initially skeptical!

My boyfriend took me here to celebrate our anniversary and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive and competent and the food was divine. I started with the mouthwatering scallops, followed by the ostrich - melt in your mouth, washed down with a fantastic Bordeaux.

Couldn't have wished for a better dining experience.

I meet up with a old friend every other month in London for lunch and was looking forward to this venue as it was a new restaurant for us to try and unfortunately I was very disappointed. The tables are so small and the seating needs to be replaced, felt like I was resting on no padding/fillings. As for the service, not impressive and my steak waas over cooked and we did not get asked if we would like any side orders to prompt us so was left with just a steak and no vegetables or salad. Looks like we will be returning to The Avenue or Oxo Tower, completely different experience - you pay for what you get.

Ate here last night and was very impressed with everything as we arrived; a well designed and decoarted, bustling restaurant with friendly staff. The menu boasted a wide variety of interesting dishes which all sounded absolutely great.

I went for the grilled asparagus to start and the swordfish for main, which was all fabulous. My girlfriend chose crabcakes to start and the rib eye steak for main, which was also fantastic.

All together it was a great meal, with a large choice of wines and great desserts.

I would definatley go back so I could try more of the menu.
