Santini

Coming to London for the first time, and being an Italian myself, I had to try one of the most recommended Italian restaurants in town. And although the ambiance has a bit of an "old" feel to it, the waiters were very present and attentive, and the food was really good (compliments to the chef!).

But I couldn't help but notice that the manageress completely killed the atmosphere by the way she treated her staff and went on to treat her clients!

Typical case of someone being oh so nice to all customers (overly, excessively nice, I must say), while looking down on her own staff...

No wonder no one was smiling!

Living in London we are blessed with so many great places to eat and my wife and I try to experience as many good restaurants as possible. We ate at Santini, for the first time, on Friday night and we were totally blown away. Being a chap that demands good service and exception food my standards are very high and I can genuinely say that this was the best meal we have ever eaten anywhere in the world....and we are well travelled. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and if you are reading this review.

We will definitely eat at Santini again. BRILLIANT!!

had a first course and cancelled anything else. i'm from the salento and this food is not what us Italians are about. Go to another place.

I was at Santini last night and had a wonderful time.It was my birthday and I took my friends there.We had the special offer which was a good value for money as their food is worth trying.The Branzino was divine and my friends Carbonara was also excelente.Everybody was really having a good time.The service was very good and attentive dispite how busy they were.Thank you Santini for the lovely time you gave me.

We had strolled by and told it doesn't open til 6pm. It all looked so promising so we returned at 6.15pm but the door was locked but after knocking we were let in. We were led to a table outside and the waiter arrived. We placed our order to a waiter who unlike most Italians, looked off into the distance! We hadn't ordered vegetables but he didn't offer to suggest anything, so I asked and got silence. My friend read out the list and he wrote down our requirements. I asked for some olives. "No olives," he said, just bread. "But this is an Italian restaurant," I said. "I'll see what I can do," he retorted. He asked if we wanted anything to drink and as my friend began to reply, he started to walk off and left her placing her order to me! We decided to leave as we didn't want to spend money on such surly service. We saw the manageress as we got up and she asked us the problem. We said the waiter was rude, which of course he then burst into life and complete amazement. We were told, "there is the door, we have nothing to say." And so we left. Unbelievable.

I went last night to Santini and I was very impressed. The terrace was amazing. We had a fantastic evening with great service and food. We had a lots of fun with the staff, that even under lots of pressure gave us their very best.The Fiori the Zucchini was delicious and my main course of calves liver was cooked to the perfection.Thank you Santini...

Although this restaurant represents fairly good value for the area (c.£100 for two, including 2 glasses of wine) I to think standards have slipped; the terrace was buzzing with waiters, but they were all rather morose and very incompetent; we asked for the wine list so many times that we gave up hoping for anything beyond the first glass. The food is reasonable, but I think better can be found at Olivomare around the corner, or even Il Convivio. Mediocre. Still, at least you can eat outside.

charming restaurant ! in spring and summer you have a very large terrasse , and you can eat there. you have to try the seafood risotto !

good and decently priced wine ! staff is friendly...
