Pleasant location but welcome and service left a little bit to be desired and this was picked up on by other patrons. We were going to stop for a light bite but instead just had a drink, chased down the bill and left.

Pleasant interior décor and good quality food. Not sure about the service. My partner ordered a fish and poached egg dish which came with no poached egg (and no explanation as to why). When asked as to where the egg had gone, the waiter’s answer was just that ‘they had ran out of eggs’. Only after further probing on the topic, did he suggest a free desert to compensate.

While staying at Marriott next door, we ate at Browns twice. Friday 7.00pm very busy, but also efficient. Food undemanding but very good. The staff often run to keep up with orders - but don't forget you! On Sauturday it was quieter but still well presented. Some of your reviewers have met unhappy staff - as far as we are concerned they were very contented!

Good value and fun.

Browns obviously divides people, and judging from the comments below dramatically so and in all respects. But the food I had last night was consistently good: the pear and stilton starter we shared (replete with a superflous layer of rocket, true) and then the liver and bacon I had for mains. The Chilean Pinot Noir was a perfectly reasonable accompaniment..

The service was functional from an otherwise hilariously bored, casual and intermittently moody waitress. Personally I prefer this to psychopathically thin smiles and insincere stock phrases, but other people I know like a little bit more pandering as they eat... Apart from that, I liked the spacious decor and relaxed atmosphere (Saturday night is half-empty in Canary Wharf); the only real error they made was sometime an inapproriate choice of music.

So, I guess I found Browns handy and pleasant, although obviously inconsistent. I'd say it's nice if you're nearby - but judging from the comments below, probably not worth the risk if you're trying to imrpess someone with something really special.

Went there for a drink with a friend on a Friday night. Similar to all the reviews below, the service was appalling.

Wanted to order something and the waiter actually told me in a rude voice he is serving, effectively tell us to shut up!

As a part of the service industry, Browns does not live up to even normal expectations.

There are so much better places for a drink. People! Help them improve service by not going there!

Avoid, avoid, avoid! Appalling service, rude staff, unprofessional, terrible food. I wish my guest and I had decided to skip dinner and go hungry. It would have been preferable. God knows what type of market this place is trying to appeal to?! You'd do better to stay home with a microwave meal!

Browns is tempting, great location, good menu, fantastic sounding brunch...ideal for the weekend hangover.

I just wish they could actually put it all together and pull it off. We have given them 2 goes to date, namely because they are on our doorstep - so it's very handy.

First time slow service and an undercooked breakfast - to the point the sausage was raw. They rectified this with a round of free drinks and reduced the bill, so we gave them another shot with some friends.

This time we got a waiter who really could not give a care to us. We were told they did not do a Brunch on Sundays. We pointed out the sign behind him said "Sunday Brunch" - he checked - he was wrong - he did not apologise, and very reluctantly rattled off our choices, then told us "he really did not want to be here" All looking rather shocked, we ordered, hoped for the best, and hid any sharp objects in case depression for the waiter came to ahead at our table!

This time the food was cooked and was enjoyed.

So now we know they can do the food ok, we just need to try to pick the right 'non suicidal' waiter if we decide to give it a 3rd time lucky try out.

Nice atmosphere, good service, decent napkins. Food is usually of constant good quality. A salmon dish had to be walked through quite a while before discovering the salmon, otherwise no such remarks. Their Brownie is excellent and recommended.

This place is terrible - ok - it is big and busy - but there would have been more opportunities than not to happily leave the restaurant without being missed, before after or during our meal.

Meal was average, best bit was the broad beans on the platter - now what does that tell you...

Best bet - walk another 5 metres to the next door bar, don't know what it is - but can't be worse.

I went here with my parents for Sunday lunch last week. The roast beef meal had the biggest yorkshire pudding I have ever seen. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times and have always been happy with the food. It isn't anything really special but I feel that it is always good quality (the crumble was absolutely delicious!). I have always experienced good service in this restaurant. I think its a very good choice for a good quality meal at a reasonable price (£50 for two courses for 3 people - soft drinks not wine).
