Good food and very reasonable prices makes it a constant winner. Watch out as the branch on waterloo road has closed...which we found out when we arrived on site for dinner 2 weeks ago!!
Glad they did take our reservation into the other branch about 7 minutes walk from there near waterloo east. I preferred the atmosphere and ecoration of the waterloo branch - this one was a bit dull.

After looking at the reviews on this web site I was drawn to Thai Silk at Waterloo. i wanted somewhere relaxed and not too smart to take my friend out for a meal. This place was well reviewed and so we gave it a try and were not disappointed.
I would not have nessecarily chosen a restraunt opposite Waterloo Station for great cuisine but here the food is excellent, the service was really freindly and pitched at just the right speed to allow you to enjoy the evening without being pushed and rushed.
The mixed starter was delicous and at only £12.50 for two, for an enormous plateful, was superb value. The Dim Sum was delightful and my only regret is that we were worried we might be hungry and ended up ordering too much.
All in all a really enjoyable evening in a very covnienent location. Will definately be going back. Well priced tasty food is not always easy to come by but this place is a bit of gem.

Have to disagree with the last reviewer. I have eaten here many times and have always really enjoyed it. It's really convenient for Waterloo & the food is fine. Good selection & always tastes fresh. Bit lacking in atmosphere perhaps and they need to do something about their toilets which always seem to be broken! Food not as bad as the last reviewer makes out though, and I can be quite fussy!

I agree with the previous reviewer! I was in London for the weekend and went to Thai Silk specifically after reading all the excellent reviews on here. Both my friend and I were completely disappointed. The bottle of wine we ordered was not chilled so not a very good start. We had a mixed starter for two and everything tasted the same. Our main course was more like eating cantonese food rather than a light and fragrant Thai meal. Both main courses again had the same base sauce.
The service is attentive and the surroundings and the atmosphere were very good. However, Thai is my favourite of all foods and I have eaten at several very good Thai restaurants. I cannot genuinly recommend Thai Silk if you are a foodie

I went to Thai Silk for a friends birthday and based on first impressions, i was very happy. Good place to go on a date as the prices are reasonable (£6 something for rice and £6 something for sauce or a 3 course meal for two for around £24) And looks sofisticated with clean cutlery (OCD sufferers!)
But the food was awful, the fried rice seemed as if it was boiled with 3 (I could count) watery prawns. It was very taseless and not hot. (not suprised as the food comes out very quickly so it must just be re-heated and not cooked from fresh). A Place for evening dining with the girls as it has a nice bar next door.
I thought the bad food was a one off but I ordered takeaway from a different branch and the food was just as bad, so Im put off thai food now. Seriously dont go there, you will be disappointed, just maybe drop by fo dinks before heading off to eat somewhere else.

I went there with my american godfather and his wife and they were not disappointed and neither was I. I walk past that restaurant almost every day and never seem to have the time to check it out.
The atmosphere is veyr nice, the staff very polite and always there to help. There is a large variety of foods and drinks. The spring rolls and the crab cakes were fantastic for starters and the lamb shack was delicious, not too spicy.
Would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal with good value for money, Ill be back.

Thai Silk at Waterloo just got better, we tried their Chef's recommendations, and the braised Lamb shank with Panang Sauce is mind blowing, a whole lamb shank and the meat just falls off the bone, we had this with the big Tiger prawns in teir special sweet and sour sauce which is totally different to the Chinese way of doing s/s sauce, they were so juicy. My Partner and her friend were just as pleased with their veggie food and she swears that their golden tofu is the best she's ever eaten and is not anything like the usual cardboard that ends up being called tofu. We had veggie Phad Thai done perfectly, lots to drink and tthey now have draft Kirin beer that helps it all slde down nicely. We found out they have anew restaurant and bar in Southwark, just behind the Jubilee line station, but can't seem to find any reviews abaout it

My husband and I love Thai food and this place happened to be open and willing to serve us on a weeknight after the theatre, late one evening.
Service was fantastic, friendly attentive staff, but not over the top. The food arrived quickly once we'd placed our order and was divine! We ordered a lovely fish dish and a penang curry, the latter being one of the best curries we have tried outside of Thailand.
Will definitiely go back!

Went there on Wednesday, on a 'date' with my new girl-friend...........we hadn't ever met before, just e.mailed and texted, and I had wanted to [obviously] impress her.........
So - after meeting at Platform 9 at Waterloo - we wandered into Thai Silk.
We were very, very impressed...................the food was excellent, the choice more than sufficient, and the attentiveness of the staff was exceptional....nothing too much trouble, always with a smile.
And to cap it all, most reasonably priced.
The relationship is up and running, thanks to a good start in Thai Silk !!
