DIned in Gaucho Sloane Avenue last Friday and was absolutely delighted with our meals. The service was superb, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was lively. We had a dissappointing experience in the Hampstead restaurant a few weeks ago but gave them a second chance - glad we did.

The waitress offered to show us the different cuts which was surprisingly useful, in terms of helping us decide.

The staff were excellent and attentive, under the watchful eye of a stern maitre d',

Would definitely recommend.

i have been coming here for years, and although the last time i visited a few months ago it wasn't the greatest meal i have ever had since they have changed the menu slightly, but when i visited recently with a friend who was visiting from australia and had always wanted to go it restored my faith.

service was great, our waiter was brilliant, he was charming, knowledgeable, and answered all the questions we threw at him. he recommended a few wines to us and even offered to open a few to see which ones we liked before we chose he also wrote down the name of the wine which he suggested incase we wanted to have it again

we shared a starter, a selection of sea food, which was good but i wouldn't recommend it since the portions are tiny considering the price and are all cold and pre-made and didn't taste very fresh

all 3 of us went for fillet steaks for mains which were cooked to perfection, incredibly tender and well hung meat with a delicious sauce. the side orders were also very good

we finished with a selection of cheeses and a cheese cake with some stickies which were all divine.

i love the decor and lighting of sloane street gaucho so the mood and the atmosphere was brilliant. the place was packed. bill came to about £50 a head including service charge which is expensive but good value considering the quality of the food and wine we had that night, will definitely be back

I went with my boyfriend to El Gaucho for a little "job promotion" celebration.

We were served a bowl of olives as an amuse bouche I presume. I do not eat olives so it was just my boyfriend who had a few of them.

We ordered two steaks which were obviously overcooked even though we had asked for medium rare and medium it was medium well and well done respectively. The steaks didn't come with any sides whatsoever (not even a leaf of lettuce to decorate!!!) so we ordered some chips.

Now this was really funny: I asked for some chimichurri as my boyfriend (who's french) absolutely loves and we were brought a bowl of salsa criolla! When I asked the waiter he said "this is our chimichurri" and being argenitinean myself I replied: "Your chimichurri is an awful lot like salsa criolla!"

The worst surpise came with the bill which was expensive for the food and service and the fact that they had charged us for those olives that they served us without us ordering them!

My boyfriend is a real meat eater so I thought it would be a good idea to go to an Argentinean restaurant. But it was even better than I expected.

The staff was really looking after us (which is important for any guest), they showed us the different types of meat, advised us on the menu and made us some great cocktails!

As it is quite a big restaurant there was there still was an intimate atmosphere.

I will definitely recommend it to the guests in the hotel I'm working!

I'd heard great things about Gaucho and so it had a lot to live up to on my first visit, but it more than passed my expectations. The staff were very friendly on arrival and departure and throughout the whole evening, our waiter wasn't pushy with anything and was very polite. The decor was amazing. The soft, low lighting set the ambiance brilliantly, great seats were very comfortable and fitting for a "steakhouse" and we had a brilliant view of the open kitchen.

Then to top if off the food was out of this world! My steak was cooked to perfection and is easily one of the best steaks I've ever had. The sides and sauces to accompany the steak were also of the highest quality.

I will definately be eating out here a lot more often.

I have been a regular at gaucho sloane avenue for a couple of years and have consistantly been impressed with the service and food. Definitely the best steak in London and the service is never short of friendly and attentive. No hesitation in recommending gaucho sloane and will definitely be back!

My dining experience at the Mayfair Gaucho was excellent, so when we had to entertain someone for dinner we decided to visit the Sloane Ave.one as it was just more convinient. Unfortunately the name is where the similarity ended. Our dining experience at this restaurant was the worst possible. It was a farewell dinner and a special occassion - and it was anything but. It started with our reservation, admittedly we got there 20 minutes late and it was to find that they had given away our table. As it was our fault for being late we were going to leave however, we were told to wait for 20 minutes and they would seat us. So we decided to wait and ordered a drink at the bar, 30 minutes later there was no sign of the maitre'd so we went up to enquire about the table, at that point we were told that it was impossible to seat us and the earliest he could was an hour later. At which point he actually pointed out to a table at the bar and told us we could sit there or if we didn't like it he couldn't do anything. Had we been told at the outset that to seat us was not possible we could have left and gone anywhere else, but by that hour it made it impossible to make it to another restaurant. As we had no choice and to avoid further unpleasantness we sat at the table in the bar. Thinking that was the last of it we ordered, and the evening just got worse. My meal arrived with the steak being undercooked so we had to send it back. If anything could go wrong it did go wrong.

We finally called the manager and had a word with him, his explanation was that he had just taken over as manager and was trying to get the house in order.

My view - go to the Mayfair Gaucho - as for the Sloane Ave. - its not worth the bother. They need to go back to the drawing board and more importantly get rid of their incompetent staff before they even think of running a restaurant.
