The Pelican has a new landlord, new chef and new look. Went in at the weekend for roast beef and was really impressed - mouthwatering meet and perfect roast spuds! The staff were very friendly and chatty, and the music was spot on too, withtthe volume at just the right level.
The rest of the menu is somewhere inbetween traditional pub type far and gastro, I had a look through and were lots of nice things on it that i'll try next time i call in. They do Beer Battered Cod and Chips alongside dishes like Grilled Poussin and Apricots or Pan Fried Fillet of Sea Bass.
Its been recently refurbished, and is a very pleasant space with traditional dustings. All in all a lovely little boozer. They have a function room upstairs too.

Went for a Sunday roast and was pleasantly surprised. Had been in before and wasn't impressed at all. But this time, the roast chicken was gorgeous (and came on time!), and they've done the place up really nicely (liked the flower lights and squishy sofas). Would have liked more desserts, and they really should keep more rose cold for sunny days. Other than that, even my mother said she would go back. A lovely local.

Not worth a visit to save getting drenched in a storm, especially if you're eating - don't bother
