Butler's at The Chesterfield
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
I decided to book Butlers Restaurant for a small family occasion - my wife's birthday. As this was a special night, I wanted to make sure everything went well...I had done some looking around and decided that this restaurant would not only be the best value for money, but I had also heard good things about it from other friends of ours who had eaten there previously.
We were not disappointed...
There were six of us in total, and we were greeted at the door of the hotel and escorted straight into the bar for some pre-dinner drinks. The pianist was wonderful and the atmosphere elegant yet relaxed. Our waiter came straight over and recommended some champagne to begin, as it was a special occasion. He returned a few minutes later with a wonderful bottle which was enjoyed by all.
The restaurant Host then came into the bar with menus and made some recommendations off the menu for us to try. Some of our friends had a couple of questions about the menu and our host was able to answer everything straight away. One of the party was a coeliac and the host was delighted to talk to the chef and come back straight away with some recommendations!!
The wine waiter then came over, asking about our menu choices and recommended some gorgeous whites and reds to match - and all under £40.00 a bottle - great value for money
We had a lovely table in the middle of the restaurant which was slightly secluded and we were able to enjoy privacy, while also enjoying the busy atmosphere around the restaurant. The service was friendly and efficient throughout and our waiter was very engaging and pleasant.
As requested, a birthday cake was served for dessert with a little rendition of happy birthday from some of the staff - a lovely touch to the end of our meal.
Overall, Butlers was a wonderful experience enjoyed by everybody who was there and we certainly look forward to returning for another special occasion!

I found the staff rude, the service slow, the food poor and over priced.

We had a wonderful birthday meal for 6 at Butler's at The Chesterfield on a Wednesday night. The service was extremely friendly and courteous which really added to the experience, while the food was consistently good. Wine starts at £20 a bottle, while the food is very reasonably priced with the deal.
The restaurant itself is pleasant and relaxing but lacking in a little atmosphere.
