The restaurant location and decor is great, although the service was pretty bad.

Some tables are wonky which is annoying, and if you sit next to the window a constant stream of undecided customers hold the door half open and cause drafts - very bad position.

The food was good, except the steak had been left at the hot counter too long and dried out a bit. Service is spread too thin, hard to get waiters attention and service is sloppy.

The smoking everywhere policy is unpleasant.

Bathrooms are clean and well designed.

Impressive decor but that was all. The place was unbearably hot and stuffy so some of our party spent a large part of the evening standing outside in the street (in November). There seemed to be no one in charge. The woman who showed us to our seat returned sometime later to take our order but inexplicably left half way through doing so and never returned. Before she left we had asked her advice on the wine list. She was not able to tell us anything sensible about the wines other than that a particular wine was "popular with the ladies". Someone else eventually arrived to take our order. The food took nearly to an hour to arrive and was OK but nothing special.

having read the reviews I had no great hopes for this restaurant. We had charming service from a lovely and very patient polish waitress. Unfortuately the food did not match up -£8 for 4 ok "engish" asparagus spears (ok that was our fault). Halibut was a generous portion unfortunately not the best of its kind. Rocket salad was drenched in something that had 3 days ago been a basil dressing but was now reduced to a black soggy mess. Expensive and if you are looking for a quiet chilled evening I would go to Greens 2 minutes away6

My fiance and I were recommended by a work colleague to eat at Rowleys. We live in Lincolnshire and had a couple of days booked in London for a break. I thought id give my friends advice a go and booked a table at Rowleys. We arrived there for an 830pm meal. We were sat by the window and given the menus. The atmosphere was dull and empty. The waiters were all foreign and seemed grumpy. They failed to light our candle the whole time we were there and had no attention to detail. We both ordered the "famous" steak which turned out to be the smallest cut of meat ive ever had in a restuarant the chips were greasy and looked like fries from mcdonalds. We had a bottle of house wine which wasnt great to be honest. i was surprised the meal did not come with any side salad veg or garnish it was very boring and I felt thoroughly disappointed and wished I had not booked for that occasion. I wont recommend this to my friends or family. very expensive for what you got.

Went there on Tuesday for lunch. Well I've been going there for quite a while with my clients. They changed the menu this week and this is the first time nobody on our table ordered their famous steak. Seriously the new menu is very good. A lot of game dishes are on offer such as venison casserole, pheasant and rabbit. Well I had the scallops as a starter which came with some little sprouts (I forgot the name) Jerusalem artichoke crisps and a oriental-asian flavoured kind of dressing/oil, which again was very good, refreshing and a surprise in here. As main course I had the pheasant with braised white cabbage, port sauce and black pudding. The pheasant was cooked perfectly medium-rare and the cabbage was very tasty. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding which again was very good and moist nut a little bit to big for me. My clients had the mushroom salad, waldorf salad as starters and the rabbit and sea bass as mains and a apple crumble as dessert. All dishes where very nicely presented and as everyone finished their plates I assume it tasted very good too. I can only say that the changes they made where the right ones and I will be coming even more I the future.
