Browns (Islington)

I use to always visit Browns N1 - but lets be honest the staff have always been rude, proof was today when I went with my pregnant girlfriend and a full of himself waiter decided just drinks outside has never been allowed!!! Funny as all other tables just had drinks!
Say no more - Browns is not a pleasurable visit in N1...

My family and i (party of eight) attended Browns restaurant on Christmas day.
Firstly our table wasn't ready for our reservation time of 15.00hrs
The service was very slow from the start and just got worst between courses
My sister requested that the lamb be cooked well done, it had to go back as it was still rare. The carrots/ Brussel sprouts and roast potatoes were hard.
We felt that we couldn't get into the spirit of Christmas as there was no crackers on our table. The restaurant were apologetic as they had run out and took 10% off our bill.
I can't believe that for £70.00 per person and £73.00 service charge that a complementary glass of wine was not included.

l am a regular visitor to Browns Islington, l always find the manager and staff are extremley helpfull, with extensive knowledge of the menu and wine list.
The food is always of a high standard and the atmosphere is typical of a good London eaterie' The location is good and easy to find. l have recommmended this place to many of my friends as a very good place to eat whilst visiting London.

This dreadful branch of Browns is taking up a wonderful location in Islington, while shamelessly serving atrocious food that would barely have passed muster in the dark days of British cooking in the 1980s.
Shockingly overpriced. My barely edible "hamburger" cost a whopping 11.95 and was served after a half-hour wait for a disgruntled waitress to take our order. Cappuccinos resembled the kind students make at home from powder out of a packet. The lavatory was a disgrace, with a barely-functioning sink and overflowing rubbish bin.
Don't go! But do please pray for a Carluccio's, or other self-respecting brand to swoop down over this prime N1 spot and give us locals something decent.
