In my opinion, the best way to enjoy Trader Vic's is to concentrate on their wonderful cocktails, starters and desserts.
Although the main courses at Trader's sound exotic and luscious, they don't really do it for me. However, their 'Tid Bits' selection is paradise.
Those Spare Ribs are probably the best anywhere - succulent, meaty, sweet but not over-sweet. Enjoy these along with Crab Rangoon, Butterfly Prawns, Chicken Livers and Jalapeno Balls and you'll have no room for much else.
As you clean up with steaming hot towels and toothpicks, you may wish to consider which sexy dessert to indulge in.
The menu at this restaurant is unique and has remained largely unchanged since the late 60's. Quite right. If it ain't broke, why fix it?
For me, Trader Vic's is a great three-times-a-year place.

I was lucky enough to be taken out to Trader Vic's for Valentines this year and I have to be honest, although not the best value for money (though I wan't paying) it was a wonderful and romantic dining experience.
It's what you'd expect from a hotel restaurant and more, with excellent service and an enormous variety of dishes to choose from. They really do cater to all tastes. I opted for the Tuna steak, not feeling brave enough to try anything else but I would suggest to any fellow diners to be more experimental!
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any Londoner that hasn't yet experienced it's flavour!

I took my girlfriend out to Trader Vic’s last week. Absolutely amazing! I had visited it before, but I just love this place so much. I just keep coming back. My favourite here, except for the Scorpion cocktail for me and the Potted Parrot for the missus, is definitely the Cosmo Tid Bits, with Beef Choo Choo and the cheese and coriander deep fried balls as a starter. Grilling that Beef over a small flame, whilst sipping on your cocktail… it’s almost like being on holiday! Service here is really top class and always a good one to impress with. They for instance do an absolutely succulent Filet mignon, carved at the table. The crispy Hoi Sin Duck will be de-boned before your nose and the lobsters look extremely tempting (maybe next time), for deserts…. the classy crepe suzette is prepared live by Renee (one of the waiters) and he knows how to put on a show. These nights are really an experience on itself. The interior, the food, the cocktails, the atmosphere and the great service are a combo of unique factors, I find very hard to find in London. Admitting it isn’t a cheap night out… but a wonderful experience well worth the money.
