Le Boudin Blanc

Everything was simply perfect: starting from the courtesy of the staff, the atmosphere, nice and cosy, the crowd and the perfection of the dishes, nothing to envy to a tipycal Parisian bistro.
We particularly enjoyed the truffle and mushroom risotto, the sole meuniere and the parfait au chocolat.
Impressive wine list, probably one of the best in London with over 600 wines: the Burgundy selection is sublime with some very fair prices.
Excellent ratio price/quality in general for the whole dinner.
The right place for a friends gathering or a romantic tete à tete.

Rude, snooty, slow staff. Tried to seat us on a tiny table in corner of empty back room, grudgingly moved to equally small, elbow clashingly jammed in table, at least in main room. Food either over or undercooked & small (perhaps thankfully) portions. Tried to charge £40 for mystery bottle of wine - removed from bill without apology & then tried to sneak through a "double tip" on both bill & card machine. Head waiter told me how to use a teabag. Thanks for that. Wouldn't survive away from tourist zone.

I was so upset by our experience at this restaurant last night, having been here before we were looking forward to returning again. I have always over looked the cramped tables and over attentive staff as the food has always outweighed these issues, however, last night the food was awful. The night began with 2 waitresses asking us for our drinks order in the first 5 seconds of taking our seats, however when we told them that we needed time, it took them over 30 mins to come back and take our order!
The Food: Our risottos were crunchy and under cooked, with a slight charcoal flavour to them owing to the fact that someone had burnt the mushrooms. The main course was substandard, and I was very unnerved about how quickly my desert was delivered straight after just having ordered it (nothing can be made fresh that quickly).
However, all this could have been overlooked, as I used to love this place. But we were seated behind a couple who kept insisting on smoking between mouthfuls of food, and as a consequence the gentleman would get up and elbow me over and over again as our tables were extremely close together. To remedy my discomfort my partner moved our table back a number of times only to have the maitre'd move them closer together....this dance was done several times, until we finished our meal and paid for the awful and over priced meal.
As we were leaving (peacefully) the maitre'd asked whether we had a good time and my partner said no and listed the reason. His response was not apologetic at all, he continued to follow us out of the restaurant making a scene and telling us that this is what you get in a bistro!!!!
never going there again....for the same money I can go to Paris and not have to be told that rubbish food and idiots are what you get in bistros!

Attentive service, downstairs very noisy everyone raising their voices across the table to hear each other! and it was not late!. My dish Coq au vin was very disappointing I ate around it as my husband steak with pepper sauce was good.
When asked if I enjoyed my meal I showed the waiter how dry the chicken was, he informed the Manager who agreed the chicken was dry! (why serve it?!)
he deducted it from the bill, OK BUT I would much rather have enjoyed my dinner, So in summary one poor meal and a boisterous environment.... not for us.

Food and wine was good and nice atmosphere.
However we had an extremely disappointing experience as far as the service is concerned. Maybe the waitress was having a bad night but we were so cross and frustrated with her rude attitude to the point that we had to take the service fee out of the bill.
I bet the manager gets loads of similar complaints as he didn't even bother asking why we didn't want to pay the service, he must know he has a poor staff.
It's a shame, the place could have been a gem.
