Chez Gerard (Mayfair)

This was one of the worst experiences of my life - I feel robbed of 1.5 hours.

I arrived at 12:00 noon with four work colleagues and we gave our orders promptly. It was 13:00 by the time our food arrived. When our hamburgers finally appeared, they were lukewarm (at best) and to be honest, not very good.

We then asked for the bill and proceeded to wait 20 minutes before paying; in hindsight, we could have probably left without paying and nobody would have noticed, the service was that poor! To top it off, our meal for a party of 5 came to £114 (c. £23 each) and our waitress attempted to add an additional £100 to my colleague's credit card, most likely hoping for that special extra Christmas bonus...disgusting behavior really.

I would wholeheartedly recommend that people not go to this restaurant. No wonder Chez Gerard's neighbour, Automat, is consistently more popular.

Chez Gerard was perfect for finishing off valentines with the girlfriend. Service was impecable, timed to perfection most times. Wine was excellent, the Chablis went down a treat, 13oz sirloin with green peppercorn sauce was just how i like it, escargo was a first for me and i particularly enjoyed my experience. would deffinatley reccomend it to anyone and will be returning soon. Bill was approx £50 including drinks.
