I went there several times (only at lunch time) and really like this place.

Very good Japanese food (I gave an 8/10 only because a 10/10 is for Michelin stars, but fresh ingredients etc.).

I like the service -doesn't bother repeating several times my orders- as the waitress are smiling. Good Japanese (simple and straightforward) atmosphere.

The Kiku menu is at 18£ (plenty of sushis, tempura, yakitori, miso soup and pickles) and definitly a 10/10 value (especially in Mayfair).

Not sure I will bring my girflfriend for a romantic dinner though.

I love Kiku's! This must be one of London's best kept secrets, the food is outstanding and the service prompt and welcoming. I agree with the previous review that the Sake Cod is a must, never knew cod could taste so good! Also recommend the Plum wine and green tea ice cream. This place has to be one of the best Japanese restaurant's around and a must for anyone craving some good quality Japanese food!

I went to Kiku for the first time a few weeks ago and ate what is possibly the best meal I have / will ever eat! Blackened cod marinated in miso and Sake.....words cannot even describe how good that tasted! The sushi was amazing too - fish that was so fresh it was like it had just come been caught, The service was very friendly and prompt and all in all I had a wonderful evening. Value for money? You get what you pay for - food of the very very highest quality.

I was lucky enough to be treated to an anniversary dinner at this restaurant last night. My partner is a recent convert to sushi and before we had only enjoyed the charms of more 'budget' establishments and home made sushi and I was keen that we should try somewhere that was a bit more 'posh'. Posh this place is. The greeting warm and enthusiastic, the warm towels on arrival a nice touch, and the toilets immaculate.

The range of dishes on offer was almost bemusing although set menus are suggested too. We decided to opt for the a la carte menu. The soy beans were perfect, with my partner musing if you could buy them in the market so we could cook them at home. The grilled aubergine had quite a strong flavour of charcoal which marred an otherwise lovely, delicate dish. The veg tempura was very succesful, it felt like real comfort food with the soft and delicate vegetables mixed with the crips batter and the slight flavour of the 'scraps' you used to be offered by all good fish and chip shops in my youth. But the sushi was to die for. The mackerel rolls were so wonderful we ordered more but the tuna was just amazing, somehow real umami flavours burst forth from this jewel like nigiri and like a good wine they lingered and developed.

On the downside the lighting is a bit over bright for a romantic dinner and the service is very formal - maybe to be expected in a Japanese restaurant but again not conducive to romance.

Kiku is around the corner from our office and is a great treat for lunch about twice a month. The staff are very friendly - and the food consistently fresh and delicious. The sashimi set lunch can revive even the most flagging spirit, especially when it's all washed down by piping hot green tea. If I had a 'lunch allowance' I'd come here every day of the working week.

I've been to Kiku with my girlfriend and had one of the worst gastronomic experiences of my life. First of all the service is quite slow and to serve Sake without a proper japonese square glass is somehow acceptable but finding a scale in the salmon sashimi is definetely not and yet unbelievable. Ok, the fish was fresh but poorly cut and loaded with Wasabi, overcoming the taste of it....

I went to Kiku last night after having read the positive reviews on this website and I can only echo them: The sashimi was incredibly fresh and tasty, as was the sushi. The service was very good, too and the atmosphere was traditionally japanese. When we arrived almost all the tables were taken by Japanese people, which is always a good sign in my opinion. We will definitely go there again.
