Les Trois Garcons

I took my partner to this restaurant for a birthday treat and had a very nice time. The decor does create an unusual ambience but to be honest you do quickly get used to it - the toilets are lovely though.
From being greeted and throughout it was difficult ot falut the staff, attentive, friendly and helpful throughout. The amuse bouche was delicious, our starters of scallop chowder and crab terrine were fine, a little on the bland side, but portion size and execution good. Mains were excellent, my partner's venison was tender and delicious and my pork was so tender it just fell to pieces and the sauce was gorgeous. I followed this with sorbets which were fruity and prettily served if a touch over sweet for my palate (my partner disagreed). The petit fours with the coffee were a really nice touch. The wine list was long enough to offer choice but not so long it confused, I was able to choose from several in my price range.
I found the food at Les Trois Garcons on a par with Pattersons and the service maybe even marginally better, however the cost was about half as much again (£170 compared with £110). Is the extra £60 worth it? I'm not so sure.

I had an excellent dinner with my partner and friends. The food surprised me. It was superb. The menu is fantastic. Fresh, local and luxury ingredients. Very well executed. It was a regal. The room was busy. It was like to be in a theater. A great dinner in every point of view.

Had dinner with my girlfriend last night and left completely sure that we will never come back. The trio of antique dealers that run the restaurant have done a great job with the interior design but beyond the dusty sad faces of the stuffed animals and the absurd opulence of the place you are left in an overcrowded room spending quite a lot of money.
The service is ok and the amateurish approach to fine dining might work for some... tourist s and weekend diners. A formula that probably is the pattern for their fabulous venues. A deluded idea that comes with a price. Never again. With so many new and good restaurants recently open in the area next time I'll go somewhere else.
Desserts were quite good... probably the best thing about this french restaurant.

I had dinner there on Saturday night with 4 of my friends. We booked a long time ago and were told that we would get a great table if we could wait until 9.30pm. We agreed and were very disappointed to get a round table next to... the restrooms!!! We should have known better.
Food is quite good; we had foie gras and crab as starters, grilled fish, chicken and beef as main. All of those were well presented and fairly tasty but I would never compare these dishes with those of restaurants of the same price range. Indeed, for the same price, you could easily go to any Michelin Star restaurant and enjoy superb food. I guess, at 3 garcons, you are paying for the decor (amazing and quite original by the way even though a small bar/waiting area should have been organized).
Wine list is just OK, nothing special. All wines are overpriced but I guess that goes for all restaurants.
Finally, for £100 each (which is exactly what we ended up paying), you would expect a much better service. We ordered a wine bottle that never came and the waiter was not specifically nice (nor helpful). Another place where it is cool to be rude...
In brief, go spend your money somewhere else.

Food was better and more consistent than last time I went. The plate of pork was the winner at the table -- belly and shoulder. Service was also better. Based on that experience, I'd recommend it. Of course the decor was excellent.

We visited Le Trois Garcons last week as a group of 5. The booking was very last minute due to a friends quick departure. The staff took very good care of us. The room was enchanting with its hanging vintage handbags, glistening jewels, subtle lighting.... the place was an expereince in itself. The food was fantatstic, being French it was quite rich but well worth teh delight. We were all served sweet onion soup before our starters and served with petite fours aftre our mains. A worthwhile expereince, for the hopeless romantic to make a bold statement with their choice of venue. Would impress a date!

Myself and my boyfriend came here to celebrate our anniversary and had a wonderful evening; the decor was fabulous, the food and wine delicious and the service impeccable. Our waitor was very well trained and it was an absolute pleasure spending the evening here. I would highly recommend it, we only had 1 course in the end but it was so rich and a perfectly sized portion we left feeling very well fed! Go along and give this French place a try, you won't be disappointed!

My friend insisted on going to this place on our joint birthday last Tuesday, which I was less than happy about owing to the mixed reviews.
The negative reviews were closer to my experience than the good ones. The decor is interesting, ambient and impressive when one first walks in but afer a couple of hours the fun wears off, and the heavy green velvet curtains coupled with plastic bling around half the resetaurant feels oppressive and chintzy. The service was very slow, and the food, although not bad, came in tiny portions and were overpriced compared to London restaurants which serve similar dishes.
We were a group of seven, and most of us ordered from the evening menu which offered two courses for £25.00. Before our dishes arrived we were all given complimentary mushroom and onion veloute, which was a pleasant touch, but it was salty and the fact that it came in a shotglass was more naff than cute. For the main course, I ordered pan-seared seabass with Mediterranean vegetables and white polenta. The fish was flavoursome and had lovely crispy skin. The portion of vegetables was tasty but on the small side - we're talking about a portion that would fit in my hand. The white polenta did not resemble any other polenta I had seen before - it was more of a saucy taste and texture rather than a solid one. It was delicious as a sauce but there was too much of it to be poured onto the other things in the dish, and it tasted too acidic to be eaten on its own. In terms of the main course, I was lucky. A friend sitting opposite ordered gnocchi and had no more than seven to ten pieces of it on her plate. Ridiculous.
For dessert, I ordered a selection of sorbets: mango, pear, and melon with a piece of caramelised banana. It was delicious, except for the melon which tasted too sweet and artificial. A friend sitting next to me ordered the cheese which just stank, but that's just my taste.
The waiter was inattentive most of the time and downright slow. From ordering the dishes, to ordering the water and then waiting for the food, and our bill, it just took ages. There was however one lovely touch which would make me consider going back again, and that was when the waiter brought us tiny cake canapes for our birthday, about one inch cubed each, chocolate cake with icing, marshmallow, and sponge cupcake. Adorable!
The bill came to over £230 for seven, four of us had two courses, the rest had one course and a tea/coffee, and about 5 of us had a single glass of wine. In any other restaurant of the same standard of food and service I would expect about a third of that total shaved off. I would consider going back again, but won't be returning in a hurry. If you haven't been and don't mind splashing out on sitting in interesting decor, try it at least once.

I normaly do not review restaurant, but my partner and I thought that Les Trois Garcons deserved it. we went for dinner last night and had a memorable time. The food was absolutely at the standard of a michelin star, the service was impecable and the atmosphere...well it 's something that you don't usually find anywhere else. I highly recomend to anyone who wants to spend a fantastic evening out to visit Les Trois Garcons as you won't find a better place then that.
