Very nice food, winelist, atmosphere and staff. I was there yesterday with my four daughters. We had a great time and a more then great meal. The bottle wine I ordered was not very special - my fault - but the extra glass afterwords was excellent - Mugo reserva.
Good value for money: paid £ 136 for four tapa menus, wine, drinks, dessert and coffee.

Such a lovely restaurant and staff! I initially booked a table for 20 people, to celebrate me and one of my friend's birthday, but in the end only 14 came. As we apologised for this, we were told not to worry, to just sit down and relax, as they'd take care of everything. When the food came we felt as if our eyes were eating it! Good presentation, fantastic smells and the tastes...hmmmm! Every one of our friends said that the food was amazing and that it was very good value for money (we had the party menu, at £16 per person)! Throughout the night the staff were very attentive to any questions and requests we had and always had a smile on their faces :). I had been there once before with work colleagues, a few years ago, and I always felt the food and service were "top". They are very friendly and make you feel relaxed, making it a good night out. I'll definitely go back!

I visited one of my old haunts for the first time in ages - I wasn't dissapointed, very little has changed ,the food and service are still great and the atmosphere on a busy saturday evening was lively. My only possible bone of contention was that I had forgotten how large some of the portions were and left feeling very full indeed ,2 of us ate for £70 inc 2 glasses of cava and a nice bottle of rioja - too full to eat puddings - some things never change and in this case its a very good thing!

Mayfair has got its fair share of rip-off places; but there are exceptions - Angela Hartnett's at the Connaught, provided you've got the cash - and El Pirata, which I 'discovered' only a few months ago, and have visited regularly since. Not once was I disappointed; the food is prepared expertly, served with great courtesy by an all-Spanish staff, the ingredients are impeccably fresh, and the very keenly-priced wine list deserves to be explored at leisure. Expect all the classics (squid cooked with rice in its own ink, kidneys braised in sherry, pulpo alla gallega, etc, etc), with a few surprises (baby eels) thrown in. All of them served in surprisingly generous quantities - more than a usual 'tapa', less than a 'racion' -, and a very reasonable prices. For two sharing six-seven dishes (more than enough!) and a bottle of wine, expect a bill in the area of £55-60. In Mayfair...what's Spanish for 'miracle'?

I visited last month for the first time. Straight away I liked the vibe of the restaurant and the decor, really authentic and cosy. The food was also great and I would definitely head back there again. Service was good and friendly, not too rushed, good value I thought. The bar area looked great for waiting for friends or spending the eve.

I have been to this restaurant so many times I have lost count!
The food is always amazing, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is electric. I have taken many people to El Pirata over the years both for business and pleasure and it has always been a hit.
Would recommend it anytime.

This is a great place, I have been there several times for the last 6 years. Lots of Tapas to choose from and the main courses are the best... The staff is friendly and is not very expensive for a central London restaurant. I would definitively recommend this place to anyone…

The set menu for 2 was huge. Excellent value for money, great service, relaxed atmosphere and (most importantly) fabulous tapas - perhaps the best that I have been to in London for a very long time. Will definitely visit and recommend again and again
