The thought of going to primrose hill for a sunday lunch was expensive and it was, but at least it was worth it. The beef roast with trimmings was what a beef roast with the trimmings should be, enough food to keep me going til monday add a good bottle of red and you dont notice the bill.

I just love this place. The food is consistently good...better than good...when it is delicious it is well and truly delicious. Plus, its got a lovely vibe. People bag on it for being trendy and snooty but I've never found it that way. That, in fact, sounds more like a description of the Engineer down the street...

I wasn't absolutely convinced by the upstairs restaurant - there was only one waiter on for 7 tables, and he was clearly stretched; forgot to bring bread, wine, someone's starter. Not necessarily his fault as he was trying his best, but the thing I was disappointed by was the food, as it had been much better on my first visit.

I ordered the mushroom risotto and it was drizzled with basil oil, which didn't really go at all. Unfortunately they had run out of their absolutely excellent steak, which I think is the thing to go for.

Almost always too hard to get a table for pizza- aloof service and painfully posh young things inhabit the downstairs bar. But that's all the more reason to sneak upstairs... The restaurant's peaceful and relaxing and the staff are attentive but don't fuss around you. Some great wines match a lovely menu that shifts with seasonality. Portions are generous and prices resonable. Huge sash windows let in the gentle summer breeze or keep the room cosy, depending on the season. I'm not a local but I've always been able to find a table upstairs without booking in advance - I doubt many people know it's even there! I bring my overseas visitors here after a walk through Regents Park and taking in the view over the city from Primrose Hill. It's never failed to impress. The great food always leaves me with a warm glow and that's not just down to the wine!

Went to the Lansdowne last night (ate downstairs) and could not fault it. The staff were friendly and laid back and the food was very good for a gastro. Would return.

Superb top floor restuarant. Service attentive and pleasent. Portions hearty and price not over the top.

The Lansdowne consistently pleases. The atmosphere is always alive but relaxed, with a great space too. The pizza is simple but of a high standard, if sometimes a little oily. Clealrly a favourite of the Primrose Hill set, but jolly nice if you are less posh too.

The reviews on the site need updating,as the kitchen has a new chef, who cooks consistently high quality food.

Living closeby we keep coming back to this place, as do the locals.

Typical dishes include fillet of beef and linguine with meatballs. The pizzas are very good too.

Prices are as cool as the clientele, (the steak is £15), but the quality of the food matches the price.

As we always eat downstairs in the pub itself, not in the dining room I can't comment on service upstairs.

Downstairs, service just entails bringing your food to the table; but then again, service charge is not automatically added to your bill.

Happening atmosphere and good food, no wonder this place is busy every night.
