Went here on Sunday having not been for a few months. Packed as ever but loads of tables so soon got a seat and had a great meal. Menu had changed and definately an improvement as always thought this place was expensive for what it was - had a lovely meal, better quality than the last few times i have eaten there and at a more reasonable price. A lovely pub with outside tables and now better food, i will go there more often!

Don't be put off by the nay-sayers. It might be possible to have a bad experience here, but i've been in and out for several years and have never had an issue with the food. When it's busy, it's very busy and you can wait a while for service, but really, if you can't wait 5 minutes at a bar then you should move to the suburbs.

This place is rare - a non gastroed uncorporate pub with no music and a real atmosphere. I've had some amazing food here, and some merely good food. It's not that expensive compared to fairly average food i can get in a cheapish restaurant.

Go and try it, but not too often..

A pub with great atmosphere and better food, that is very welcome in a part of london that is being increasingly over run with essentially, tossers. the food was delicious- particularly the slow baked chicken with chorizo and the pizzas looked delicious- thin and crisp and they smelt great! Its pretty reasonably priced- £5 for a started and £12 on average for big portion mains.

But the best thing about it..? A stuck up, primrose princess ordering off menu and demanding that her fish be cooked with no oil, no seasoning being told politely, but directly, by one of the waitress, 'the chef says- it comes as it comes, you're welcome to leave it, or to nibble on some lemon'.

I found the staff friendly, and I find that the norm, provided you are to them. I can only assume that the people who were left waiting or wanting regarding service are those whose manners are left wanting too... Try saying please. The place has a lovely mix of regulars, big families, and couples. It's lovely.

Ok atmosphere for a drink, but I found the food lacking. My whole fish was not cooked through, and when a member of staff came by and noticed it she just went "huh" and walked away.

I like sitting outside for a drink, but wouldnt make a trip for it.

Billing itself as a gastropub trailblazer in Primrose Hill, the Lansdowne was ok but nothing special. The dining room upstairs was nice and light but just like 100 other pub dining rooms in London, while the menu tied itself up in knots with shellfish and other fish options and could have done with some decent staples.

The pizzas were good value, though some were lacking in topping. Overall though, they were a hit. The service charge on the other hand was not.

The Lansdowne has of late become my new local due to the fact that i have recently started work in the area. It must be good because me and my work mates keep going back despite there being several other good pubs in close vicinity. The thin based pizzas are out of this world in particular the parma ham and rocket and they offer a great £5 lunch menu that changes daily. I would definitely recommend paying the Lansdowne a visit, the staff there are friendly with service to match.

This place is without doubt the real thing. Lots of London pubs have been 'gastro-ed ' which usually means they've flirted with the farrow and ball paint chart and bought in a few leather club chairs, with little thought to the actual food on offer.

The lansdowne is an authentic, lively, straight down the line pub with a good solid menu every night but with brave embellishments added to their menu often enough to make it worth a visit more than once a week.

The pizzas are now the stuff of folklore..and the pork belly would harden the arteries of Henry the Eighth..but is a tour de force !! A decent drinks list with a broad range of good to excellent wines on offer

The staff work flat out .. a tight friendly team eager for you to enjoy your evening...but they don't suffer fools gladly..impressively weeding out of the worst of the new Primrose Hill tossers without being obvious about it...allowing a healthy interesting mix of the type of Londoners you'd like to spend an evening with. Highly recommended !!

Appalling food. Appalling service. Appalling prices.

Our group did not just feel disappointment...we felt as if we were being insulted. As if somehow they were doing us a favour just to let us in to be mistreated.

None of us will be going back, ever.

went there for a birthday dinner on saturday. Was really disappointed that the indifferent staff stuck out group in a depressing corner with peeling paint...

Food was average, and for the money there are pleny of better places in NW1/NW£

I completely agree with the previous review of this restaurant. I took my family to lunch on the same Sunday as the previous reviewer and experienced the exact same bad food and lack of good service. I have since written to the Manager and have not had the courtesy of a reply. The service was slow, the food was precooked, reheated and totally unappetising. We did not bother with a pudding. The bill was expensive.

Gourmet Chick - 7/10

Wednesday, December 17, 2008 - The inclusion of venison was characteristic of the menu at The Lansdowne which was peppered with seasonal British food such as cured sea trout, langoustines with mayonnaise and a Gubeen and potato pie. My starter of a beetroot, feta and ruby chard salad topped with scattered pomengrate was just about the perfect winter salad. It was similar to salads I've made myself but the pomengrate was a touch of inspiration and added a sparkle to the whole dish.
