Living locally i spend a few nights drinking, despite loud atmosphere, this is a really nice pub. Went for food the other day, everyone of my gourp ordered pizzas and i ordered a Beef burger with tapenade, salad and potaoes. I was quite surprised to see what i got. I got a plate with a round nicely cooked beef, but no bun, or tomato, a rocket salad with small slices of red onions, and baked potatoes. No sauce or mustard or ketchup or anything to go with it. When i asked if i got the right dish, the waitress said yes. When i complained that what i had in front of me was a plate with a round grilled beef and a salad, and that wasnt a burger as i was missing the bun, onions and/or tomatoes, she replied saying that the menu doesnt say that it comes with bun or tomato, so i shouldnt be expect every burger to be the same!! But then dont call it a beef burger Lansdowne?! Are you for real?! at £12.50?! Cant pubs do normal food anymore? Please stop making changes to what is a normal dish Lansdowne. What should i expect next time? Bangers and Mash, with just sausages and mash potato, but without the gravy? Very poor.

We had a wonderful time at The Lansdowne. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, with Jonny leading the way making sure we were taken care of and having a great time. The room was full of people enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and great drink selection. We had a pizza that was top notch, but everything we saw at the tables around us looked so good that it made us wish we had enough appetite left to order more food!

This was the perfect place to unwind and finish a great night on the last evening of our holiday. We will most certainly be back the next time we are in London.

I love this place! Been coming here for years and although there have been ups and downs in the last year it's clear that things have settled now. The food is great and the menu changes every few weeks so I never get bored no matter how often I go and if all else fails their pizzas are the bomb!

The staff know their stuff, they smile and genuinely seem to care.

I generally sit downstairs with mates, but last night i brought a date upstairs for a special wine tasting night they were doing and the room was amazing, wish i'd ventured up the stairs sooner. The date wasn't great, but it's a really cozy space for a quiet dinner.

Check it out!

The Landsdowne always had a good reputation for serving fresh, well prepared food with seasonal ingredients but I am sadly to report these days are gone. I went there with a friend for Sunday lunch and we were both hugely disappointed with the food, customer service and general aspect of the place (they had two jars of bloody mary behind the sticky bar ready to be served after the many flies had helped themselves first).

I ordered spinach fritters with spicy lentils and my friend ordered the lamb steak with mash potatoes. The presentation of my fritters was quite shocking and it didn't taste good either. Two uncooked oily pancakes with tinned lentils on top of it and some greek salad (!!!) on the side.

My friend's lamb seemed much more presentable on top of the mash and a beautiful looking gravy. Sadly, the meat was really tough, over cooked and the gravy was full of vinegar which made the whole thing taste rather sour.

I sent my dish back to the kitchen after 2 bites, was offered something else by the waiter but couldn't risk having another badly executed meal and asked for a refund instead just to be told by the manager that it wasn't part of the company policy to offer refunds if the client is not satisfied with the standard of the meal. Great policy!!! I was expecting much more for £9.50.

If you are after a decent meal in a pub with good atmosphere, don't bother going there. An insider told me their head chef is leaving looking for "fresh challenges" and the kitchen has been left to under paid trainees. Enough said, the area is full of good options, so look elsewhere but don't waste your time and money there.

Gourmet Chick - 7/10

Wednesday, December 17, 2008 - The inclusion of venison was characteristic of the menu at The Lansdowne which was peppered with seasonal British food such as cured sea trout, langoustines with mayonnaise and a Gubeen and potato pie. My starter of a beetroot, feta and ruby chard salad topped with scattered pomengrate was just about the perfect winter salad. It was similar to salads I've made myself but the pomengrate was a touch of inspiration and added a sparkle to the whole dish.
