A friend and I went for a 'meal deal' combined with tickets for Blithe Spirit at the Savoy theatre.
The restaurant is classicly old-fashioned but the service was superb and the beef sublime.
I told the server that I was 'very hungry' and got an outrageous wink and three huge slices of rib of beef. The Knights Bar upstairs is a wonderful place for cocktails as well. Every bit as good but cheaper than the Savoy and not as crowded.

Old school British restaurant, seemingly very popular with tourists. Slightly bizarre ancient interior and staff uniforms that could do with a bit of an update. Great attentive service though and lovely beef and yorkshire.

Traditionally British food of an above average standard. The service was both efficient and friendly.
Biggest disappointment was the decor; you would think that after entertaining some of the world’s most famous people and being something of a British institution that it would be a consideration to at least purchase some new carpets for the place, surely they must be able to afford it with the prices they charge. The interior was extremely drab and dated. This some what detracted from the overall experience.
Simpson's could truly take some notes from the magnificent Woolsey in Piccadilly.
