We had lunch here recently something that we were really looking forward to. Sorry to say we left disappointed. The whole experience could have been improved without a lot of additional effort. The reception was courteous but the waiters did not seem to have much interest in any of the proceedings. The selection of main courses available was impressive however none of the courses served were very hot or gave the impression of being fresh. The quality of the signature rib of beef carved at the table was very good but the plates and vegetables were luke warm. The wine list is overpriced and is not good value. We will not be going back there are plenty of alternatives. Do they care !

Went on the 12th November. There were 9 of us for Lunch, to celebrate my son's unexpected and secret marriage [phew, saved me a fortune].
I had forgotten about Simpson's and tried almost all of the top restaurants, but none could seat more than seven of us. Simpson's was my last attempt to find somewhere a bit special.
The food was first class, as was the service and in the background an excellent pianist. The restaurant was packed and noisy, but not annoyingly so. In fact, the hustle and bustle added to the atmosphere because it meant that we need not worry about annoying others by our chatter.
The prices are so good and the atmosphere, very British [apreciated by our Canadian guests]. I just hope that the powers that be don't decide to go for an upgrade. 'It ain't broke, so don't fix it. Why not give it top marks - if deserved?

We visited Simpson’s for breakfast this morning. The main breakfast was tasty (although the pastries were at best underwhelming) and when prompted the flow of tea, coffee and orange juice plentiful. But we were struck by a disappointing level of customer service. Two of the breakfasts were served virtual cold as was the first pot of tea: clearly they had been sitting around for sometime. When brought toast we had to ask for butter, when brought tea we had to ask for the milk and then prompt for refills at every stage of the meal, often waiting an eternity for the waitress to return. This did not reflect the level of service I have come to expect from Simpson’s. Our concluding assessment was Simpson’s is on a downward curve, I trust it will start moving upwards again in the New Year.

We went to Simpson- in-the-Strand for dinner on a Saturday. While the setting was beautiful, the restaurant lacked ambience. The food was average. I ordered their signature roast beef, which was tender. The vegetables were not cooked to high standards, and were not any better than what you would get in an average pub. I ordered chocolate mousse and resberry sorbet for desert, but could not taste the chocolate or the rasberry, because the desert was too sweet.
The staff are friendly and polite. 3 course-meal for two came up to 160£.
While it was interesting to dine here (because of the history of the place), we have had much better meals for better value.
