Buka has been re-invigorated and is now known as Faze 2 a with far better interior. In fact the wall prints are tasteful IMO, there are artists impressions of famous Nigerians (hmph, no women!) including Samuel Adjai Crowther. Nice touch, a good point for flagging convo....

This is an update - it's only fair - since my last comment highlighted the poor decor. Well done to them. Long live Buka Fish with dodo! I hope to get some Efo Riro there today, for those who dont know, that's steamed cooked dark green vegatables finished with palm oil with a mix of meats. Yum.

The service was slow for takeaway but on balance all the dishes tasted fab! Staff friendly enough tho I dont need menu help, I know my Nigerian cuisine fairly well. The Buka Fish (steamed tilapia with fried dodo and hot pepper sauce) is always fresh - highly recommended.

Sorry Kingy your review here seems to read for a different place?!

Buka has been around many yrs and maybe has got tired, it shows: both from the front & when you walk in. Mr Buka Proprietor please do something abt the look!!! Free advice: flatscreen TV is not reqd, just paint, modern light colours, lighting & clean furnishing will make all the difference.

I went there recently with a friend, and after a while the waitress eventually approached us with a menu. We advised her that we weren't familiar with the dishes & didn't like food that was too spicy. She recommended two dishes to us. The result? The food was served on chipped crockery and was so spicy it nearly took our tonsils out. We couldn't have more than a few mouthfuls of it, and refused to pay for it. If you don't mind the crockery, slow service and very spicy food, then it might be OK for you. For us, it smacked of a third-rate operation staffed by second-rate staff. Never again.
