Went to the opera on Friday where the restaurant had Don Carlo (a long opera) with a special menu. I had Vietnamese Summer Lobster Roll which was nice but a bit measly with the lobster and totally filled with veg. My partner had ham hock terrine which seemed the tasty and was the better option. For mains I had Roast Pollack which was excellantly cooked and my partner seared tuna but agreed was very nice. We ordered sides of tomato salad and parmesan and rocket salad. The tomato salad wasn't great but the rocket salad was well prepared. For dessert I had Neal's yard cheeses (generous portions and my partner Chocolate pave which she enjoyed. Washed down with a reasonable white rioja (however the wine list can escalate steeply. Overall the bill came to £122 including service. I thought my starter was overpriced but overall a good place to eat if you are visting the Royal Opera House. Ther service is speedily efficient (as it has to be due to the nature of the building) but always pleasant.

went to a wedding reception here. Service was great, food was enjoyed by all. views were superb from the terrace and it was all reasonably priced. Everything was presented wonderfully, even the humble salmon steak looked like it could afford a ticket to the opera. I liked it foranother reason too. Its in the west end, caters for the theatre crowd and isn't heaving with tourists.

My friends and I have dined at Searcy's twice. The service is astoundingly efficient and fast and the food is excellent, despite apparently having been prepared in so short a time.

Staff are friendly and helpful and we arrived during the interval to find our wine, perfectly chilled, already poured for us.

Not cheap, but certainly value for money and most importantly, it made a fabulous evening even more special.

A three-act opera running over five hours leaves few options. Searcy's in-house restaurants have a near captive clientèle. But we are happy to pay a premium for convenience and occasion. Unfortunately, our unhappiness this summer with the quality - of service and meals - makes a return unlikely. While we did not get the terrace table, the wine we thought we had ordered or any coffee to close the meal, confusions might have been quickly resolved; what was unacceptable was the effort required on our part to get the attention of the assortment of staff. Particularly since our cramped table was flanked many that were empty. Starters were good: the grilled mushroom, artichoke & red pepper salad with balsamic dressing & shaved pecorino was excellent. But both main courses consisted almost entirely of meat; ruling out the need for carbohydrates that still does not correspond to what most of us would regard as a meal, certainly not a meal costing £80 for two people. Excluding wine - Fleurie was ordered and Côtes du Rhône served. After ten minutes or so waiting for someone to offer coffee I stood for another couple of minutes at the till, where I was told that there were fifteen minutes in which to have coffee, gratis; with that the stage manager announced that the performance would start, far below, in ten minutes.
