PJ's Grill (Covent Garden)

I used to tell everybody that the best meal I ever had was at PJ's. Not any more. My wife's starter of 'asparagus with parmesan and balsamic vinegar was luke warm as was my home made parsnip soup. The main course was better, however the side dish of 'brocolli in olive oil with chilli and garlic' was absolutely tasteless. When I enquired about this I was informed that 'a lot of people didn't like the chilli and garlic!' So why is it on the menu? Even though the place wasn't particularly busy we felt rushed and when people started smoking on a nearby table (also in the non smoking area)it was time to leave. Disappointing way to celebrate a Silver Wedding.

I went to PJ's on 23rd March and overall the meal was very nice. I had the crispy duck which was to die for and my partner had the Squid which was also very nice. The steak was cooked perfectly and my only complaint was the fact that the chips were a little hard. I would definitely go back!

We had lunch here based on previous reviews. The food is to die for and the service is superb. Very friendly and very helpful waitress. very deserving of the large tip we left her. The steak was truly the best I have ever tasted and the home made fries were excellent. Next time I'm in London I will definitely eat here again! Well worth the money.

Based on reviews here, my family and I decided to have an early evening dinner before making our way home. Must say, the service was first-rate and the food was good value for money. Atmosphere topped it all off. Drinks were a little expensive - but then this is central London! Would have no hesitation returning.

PJ's is all about atmosphere, quite a lot about fine food and more than anything warm personal service. Over the last 20 years I have had the pleasure of being a regular - at times almost too often however now that I have moved back to Norway coming to PJ's when in London is like coming home - and at table 26 I still have my place and plaque....Keep up the good work Bill, Owen, Wendy your Oregami expert barman and the rest...! All the best from me and my girls:)

We were in town last Thursday celebrating my daughters 10th birthday with tickets for Mary Poppins but no place to feed two hungry girls who not only appreciate good food but have developed quite definate opinions as they embrace their pre teens with the added complication that Megan has Coeliac Disease and has to have a very strict gluten free diet! With only a couple of hours to find a venue London-eating recommended PJ's Grill and within 2 minutes I had spoken with a very warm and approachable gentlenan who ran me through the menu which was both reasonably priced and had dishes that would appeal to a fussy 10 year old, a stict vegetarrian, the city gentleman as well as Great Aunt Ethel! A table was booked for 6pm the same evening and were not disappointed! The girls felt they were treated like Royalty! They thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the sophisticated and yet relaxed surrondings! The flourless chocolate praline cake with soft berries and cream was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and gluten free!!! The kind gentleman on the other end of the phone introduced himself towards the end of the meal as the Manager and made us feel very welcome so a bbig thank you to all the staff at P.J's Grill and for Megan it was especially brilliant!

i regret to say that on visiting pjs for the first time , i was very disappointed! we visited london to see the lion king at the lyceum theatre and were booked in to have dinner there. on arrival we discovered it was not disabled friendly, therefore difficult to access in and out and reach our table. the atmosphere was very smokey which we thought was illegal in public eating places these days! although the staff were extremely helpful and accommadating it was a somewhat stressful for my husband and myself. the food was poor also in our view. we do not plan to eat there again in the future.
