The last time i went to this restaurant (admittedly was about a year ago and then 6 months before that) i thoroughly enjoyed it. Food and service was very good. I have been wanting to go back for a while now but reading some of the reviews stating its gone down hill under new managment i'd rather not hamper my fond memories of the place and give it a miss! shame because good reasonable restaurants are very hard to find! :-)

I used to love this place and hark on endlessly about their ribs and steaks. However last weekend I could see things have changed under new management; Polish by the sounds of things.
The waitresses were nice enough and attended to us when asked. However the quality of the food really has gone down hill.
I ordered the Rib platter and was pretty disappointed. The ribs were identical to the ones I get in Tesco's for £3. The steaks are scrappy thin little cuts, pubs do better steaks than this. You used to get a grilled corn on the cob, now you get cold corn with processed red pepper straight from a tin.
Clearly costs have been cut but prices have remained, damn recession.
Not bad food, I just felt upset paying for high end grub but getting bland service station style food.
Shame really, we ended up paying £25 a head for a meal I could have cooked myself at home ... and I suck at cooking.

Arrived with a party of three to be told there were no seats available as there was "a family waiting". This while the restaurant was half empty. We were fine with a wait by the bar but before ordering were barked at incomprehensibly by the maitre d. Something along the lines of you can now be seated. Five minutes of loitering awkwardly near the front desk later I asked her what was happening only to be bizarrely shouted at again - essentially that I had only been waiting a short time so should pipe down. To this I said we'll be leaving now, you've lost our business. But not before I explained what had happened to the disinterested manageress. Shockingly rude.
I cannot comment on the food because we did not stick around to be gastronomically as well as verbally abused. We went elsewhere and racked up a large drinks and food tab that Texas Embassy lost out on.

The southern fried steak was virtually tasteless - altogether a bland meal. Staff were friendly, but considering that there were few customers in at the time, service was very slow. Don't think I'll bother again.

This is easily the worst restaurant / worst food in London ( & there are lots & lots of shocking places to eat by the way, so well done on excelling here Texas Embassy!!!). I have no idea how anyone could give it more than a 2 star rating. Well, I can imagine but don't want to accuse anyone of manipulation. Anyway - won't be coming back ever!!! & am also amazed that this place has managed to stay in business for over 3 years.

Agree with most of the reviewers here. It was just across the street from the hotel, and we were too lazy to go anywhere else. Big mistake. The absolute worst Mexican food. But, my brother and I had low expectations and we were not disappointed. You don't go to London to have Mexican food.

really disgusting.
forgive me for not taking the time to go into detail - i don't want to waste my time slagging off this ghastly place - but suffice it to say, i find it very upsetting that people (many american tourists judging by a mid-week visit this week) think the level of food here is acceptable.
if it's mexican you're after try one of the cheap and cheerful new groups eg wahaca in covent garden or mexicali on berwick street. if it's a steak you're after, you could do better even at gaucho (and it wouldn't cost you more, honestly!) or sophie's steakhouse. not that i love them that much either but at least they're acceptable...
TEC couldn't even serve me anything other than a room temp beer.
A total, tacky waste of time. You'd be a fool to go.
