I went as part of a group of 15 in mid December, and the atmosphere was fine, the cocktails were good (and reasonable, particularly during happy hour) but some of the food was just terrible. I am still not sure if my burritos were made from tortillas or cardboard, and would recommend sticking to things like steaks, which seemed to go down better with my colleagues (though they did have to send back their chips, which were cold and replaced with hot without fuss.

I went to the Texas Embassy with a group of work colleagues for Thanksgiving dinner - the menu sounded amazing - frozen Margaritas, dips, really great roast turkey. It was nothing like they said it would be unfortunately.

The best that can be said is that the drink was lovely - maybe just go along for a drink instead of dinner! Firstly they brought only 1 bowl of Tortillas to the table for a group of 12 to start, then tried to charge us for 3 bottles of wine when our booking included 2 bottles. The food was just awful. The chicken and sweetcorn soup was like it was extracted from a tin and the main meal was as if I had jumped back in time to the days of school dinners.

The potato and sweet potato were like sludge and clearly scooped with an ice cream scoop. We were promised delicious honied carrots, but instead they were completely plain with some chilli powder sprinkled on top.

The service was also terrible, the staff were incompetant and rude, unable to give us the correct bill for a good 20 minutes after we ordered it.

Luckily the group of people were fantastic so overall we had a great night, but this was nothing to do with Texas Embassy. I would have paid about £5 for the food we ate - unfortuntately the set menu option we went for was £30 a head. What a waste of money!

Overpriced to say the least, and when they also try to con you into paying more it leaves a bad tastes in the mouth.

The quesadilla is offered at two prices. I assumed, as per common practice in UK restaurants, that the lower price was for a starter portion and the higher price was for a main course. I had quesadilla as a starter but was surprised to be billed £10.

I queried the bill and the waiter told me that the higher price was for the standard starter and that the lower price was for a smaller starter.

I said no. He accused me of being dishonest, but said he'd amend the bill.

Then the manager came over to argue the point.

Rarely have I come across such atrocious customer service in London, and I've been to some awful restaurants.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!

I have seen this restaurant often while passing and finally gave it a try. Well I was back the next week. I'd recommend an assortment of appetizers rather than ordering individual meals. Everything was very tasty with good sized portions. The waiters both times were very friendly and attentive. It may have been because it was lunch both times we went, but I have no complaints.

I have never felt compelled to write a restaurant review before and am not a fussy eater, but I was very disappointed with virtually every aspect of the Texas Embassy Cantina.

I went with a group of friends that I don't see very often, so we decided to treat ourselves and pay a bit more for a themed venue, and as we all like mexican food we thought it would be ideal.

My choice of the Barbeque Platter was the most overpriced (comparative to the quality/quantity of food served) I've ever had; served on a sml-medium sized plate, it wasn't a platter- and the skinny ribs, overcooked brisket and not-on-the-cob corn was smothered in much too strong concentrated Chipotle sauce. And that for 16.50! I wasn't the only one disappointed with my food- the group were dismayed by the small portion sizes and general `over-cooked' taste. Unfortunately the service was also poor, the decor shabby (beyond the intentional rustic`saloon' feel) and the barely audible random radio(?) music added no atmosphere.

Won't be returning.

The last time i went to this restaurant (admittedly was about a year ago and then 6 months before that) i thoroughly enjoyed it. Food and service was very good. I have been wanting to go back for a while now but reading some of the reviews stating its gone down hill under new managment i'd rather not hamper my fond memories of the place and give it a miss! shame because good reasonable restaurants are very hard to find! :-)

I used to love this place and hark on endlessly about their ribs and steaks. However last weekend I could see things have changed under new management; Polish by the sounds of things.

The waitresses were nice enough and attended to us when asked. However the quality of the food really has gone down hill.

I ordered the Rib platter and was pretty disappointed. The ribs were identical to the ones I get in Tesco's for £3. The steaks are scrappy thin little cuts, pubs do better steaks than this. You used to get a grilled corn on the cob, now you get cold corn with processed red pepper straight from a tin.

Clearly costs have been cut but prices have remained, damn recession.

Not bad food, I just felt upset paying for high end grub but getting bland service station style food.

Shame really, we ended up paying £25 a head for a meal I could have cooked myself at home ... and I suck at cooking.
