We went to the Saturday Film Club, which includes a movie and three course meal. I had the Sizzling beef with ginger and chilli for starters. This was very salty. I had to eat it with bread to make it more palatable. I ended up guzzling down the sparking water. This wasn't cheap at five pounds a bottle. My main course was a spinach and saffron risotto. It was very nice and creamy but a little too much spinach. The lemon tart was very good with a glazed top.
My friend had the beetroot and goats cheese for starters, followed by the fish pie. She thought this was quite bland. Her banana tart tatin was a complete disaster. It looked like something knocked up by a child. The bananas were cut in inch segments, which stood on top of the puff pastry. The bananas were raw or uncooked. Either way, she didn't eat it as it was inedible. She told the waitress, who agreed to pass on her comments to the chef. Nothing further was said by the waitress. An apology would have been nice.
