My mother and I stumbled across This place yesterday while we were looking for somewhere for a drink and a nibble before a show. It was a nice sunny afternoon so we wanted to sit outside and this seemed the perfect spot.
I don't doubt that the food was very good becasue everything coming out looked delicious, but the service was dire.
We arrived before 5pm and there were very few people that we could see. It took 15 mintues for anyone to take our drinks order. We decided to have some nibbles rather than a meal which came out very quickly, but the food was finished before the drinks even arrived!
When we ordered our second drinks it took 3 seperate attempts to ask the waiter for a cup of coffee and a total of one hour for it to finally arrive!
On the third attempt (and the only reason we stayed was because we were meeting another person there later) it again took 2 requests!
In the meantime there were several complaints from other guests around us who never recieved their food orders.
When we finally received the bill we were astonished to discover that we were being charged an additional 15% for service! Very Very poor experience and I advise you to give this place a wide berth if you are in any kind of hurry!

Just got back home from a long weekend in London. We had dinner Friday night at Tuttons which I had anticipated after reading reviews here. I can honestly say the food was very good. The service, however, was simply abominable. It took 4 separate requests to three people to get a soft drink for my 7 year old daughter. Orders were incorrect (I'm not referring to a kitchen error like a rare steak that came well done. We ordered pasta for my daughter and salmon showed up). We were charged for the salmon not the 2 pound cheaper pasta, but by the time we finally got the bill, I just wanted to escape and the money was probably a bargain compared to how long it would likely have taken the buffoons to fix the mistake.

My husband and i had a night down in London last week but we had no plans for when we were there, we spotted tuttons in the afternoon and called in for a drink or two. The bar staff were great, very friendly and the place was busy so we decided it might be a nice place to dine. That evening we had no trouble in getting a table and were seated straight away by the window. The place has a very warm feel about it and our waiteress was a very nice polite girl. the service was fabulous and the food was delicious, i didnt want it to end. The spicy crab cakes as a starter were fab and the rib eye steak was like butter, mmmmm. The waiteress we had was not pushy at all and we didnt feel like we were being rushed. What a lovely night, we will definately be visiting again soon to try some more tasty and reasonably priced food.

Just had one of the most enjoyable pre-theatre meals ever. Could not really fault this restaurant. Food and service excellent. I have dined there many times - great in Summer with tables outside. The specials are very good - I had seared tuna as a starter that could just as well have been a main course. Friendly and attentive staff. Only criticism is that they should let the customer decide on leaving a tip and not automatically add 15% to the bill.

I went to Tuttons for lunch on 10 November with a friend and was, as usual, very pleased. The seasonal menu featured fresh food beautifully cooked, and service was prompt without being obtrusive. A main course of smoked salmon and prawn fish cakes with a lemon and sorrel sauce was tasty and satisfying, and the chocolate brownie dessert was pure heaven. My only gripe was the cost, which seems to have soured lately - but it was good.

My friend and I have visited this brasserie twice in the last 4 months, the first time for a meal and the second for drinks. The meal was disappointing but the bar staff certainly weren't, (one in particular!), and we were made to feel very welcome. The second time we visited, the barman remembered us from before which was quite impressive. Will definitely go again but just for drinks.

We walked out of a musical show during the interval because it was just too hot and cramped in the theater. Went walking around Covent Garden looking for a place to eat to redeem the evening, and found Tuttons. Having been cooped up indoors in the terrible heat, we really wanted to eat outdoors; the staff warned us that service wasn't as good outdoors because they can't see the tables from their main work area. We sat outdoors anyhow because we needed air.
We had a starter of deep fried camembert with cranberry relish, then I ordered a daily special beef dish, and my wife ordered a glazed salmon. We didn't expect much, but everything was wonderful. The camembert starter was quite unbelievably good. Both main courses were delicious, prepared and presented well. Perhaps when there are big mobs of people after the theaters let out, the service or food quality might suffer, but we had a great meal with decent service and good value. Next time I'm in that part of town I will certainly seek Tuttons out.

Wow I think I went to a different Tuttons compared with the other people that hjave left feedback on this page. Non-existant service, we actually had to ask to have plates cleared away as they left them so long on the table...and the attitude of the waiter was really awful- everything we asked for (which was no more than usual- water, what the mains came with etc) was just too much trouble for him.Only two vegetarian options on the whole menu, my risotto cakes were heavy and stodgy and really unpalatable. Extremely unplesant dining experience and not even remotely good value for money, we most definitely won't be visiting this horrible place again.

Great as a coffee shop or pre-dinner drinks place. Easy to find and useful for meeting friends. Don't eat there.

I went to the Brasserie at breakfast.
What I surprised was, even though my friend and I were just sitting and chatting quietly, those waitors and waitress were gazing us and smiling... More than that, once either of us finished tea or food, it has immediately cleared away. It was as if they wanted to leave people asap? Anyway, there were no service in this Brasserie.
