I ate at this restaurant only last weekend with my husband and nine year old son. We normally eat at another restaurant on Gerrard Street but came across this one and thought we would have a change.
The service was very good and so was the food - it was better than our normal one because it was quieter and you didn't feel hurried - it was also better value too. We will certainly visit this restaurant again.

First impressions give you the idea this is going to be a meal to be remembered, unfortunately the decor doesnt really match up to the food. What's really strange is there is no music at all, no ambience, no atmosphere.
The service was excellent the staff being very attentive, it was the food that completely let the visit down. We went for the vegatarian set meal for two, the starters were far too oil and masked the overall taste of the food. The next course looked like something the cat had brought up. The fried rice was stuck together in clumps, and appeaared as though it had been fried several times over!
If you're looking for good chinese food, this certainly isnt the place. :(
I must say in its favour the portions were ample, though the overall cost matched this, it is rather pricy.
We might have forgiven the food but the fact the chairs they had were so uncomfortable (very hard seats) we were forced to rush our food unnecessarily. We will certainly not be frequenting again.

I was in a group of six that ate here on New Year's Day. We chose to eat here due to the amount of Chinese diners that we could see while peering through the window. They were fairly busy when we arrived, but made space for the six of us. On the whole, the service was great, apart from one waitress who would rather have been somewhere else. We ordered a set menu for six people, with a plentiful starter course, then superb crispy duck with pancakes followed by our main course - a selection of crispy shredded beef, prawns, chicken, mixed veg and special fried rice. We drank three bottles of pinot gricio with our meal, and the waiting staff were quick to notice empty bottles. I would personally recommend this restaurant and will certainly visit again.

Went to the London Hong Kong today for lunch to celebrate my son's 35th birthday restaurant - chosen because he fancied Chinese and the Hong Kong was supposedly child-friendly - we have a 14-month old granddaughter. The food was good enough, and I suspect we'd have done better going a la carte than (for reasons of speed) choosing a standard menu (dim sum plus main courses). The portions were over-generous, but one can't complain. It was noticeable that most of our fellow diners were Chinese, which says something about the place.
Wouldn't have bothered posting this review had I not read the earlier ones last night and as a result approached the meal with some trepidation. Today the service was fabulous. Quick, attentive, good-natured and every member of staff wanted to interact with our grand-daughter. The staff seemed happy and working well together and when (inevitably) the little one dropped chopsticks and spoons on the floor they were instantly whisked away and replaced with no fuss.
From which I conclude either:
a) The London Hong Kong staff have taken notice of the criticisms here and raised their game - or:
b) You need to take a toddler there with you to get the best out of them!
I've given a 5 rating for food on the basis of what we had, but suspect it could be higher with a better selection from the menu - other diners seemed to be doing somewhat better.

While eating at this restaurant with friends last night, were told that we needed to spend a minimum of £10 for the main course as we hadn't ordered any starters so we accepted this although we wondered if they were taking us for a ride! I ordered two main courses and took one home with me as a take away but this is not how I like to be treated in a restaurant. Out of principle, should have walked out there and then, but we had our drinks at that stage and were settled down, however it only went from bad to worse in terms of service. We found the food to be ok but some of the plates were almost thrown onto the table and the dishes were removed by the waiter in the same way, nearly hitting my friend in the face with his elbow several times. There were hundreds of members of staff constantly walking around us, staring at us, blatantly looking at their watches in front of us and asking us if we wanted more drinks every five minutes. I've never experienced such rudeness and lack of professionalism. I couldn't beleive my eyes. It really was like a joke.

I completely agree with many of the points raised by the previous reviewers. I went to this 'restaurant' with friends last night and I am still annoyed by the way the staff treated us - they are so rude. In fact, I would say that the service was the worst I have ever encountered. For example, when I placed my order, I was careful to check which meals were vegetarian (the waitress laughed at me for being vegetarian by the way) but I was still served with a meat dish. When I explained the situation to the waiter, he said that it was my fault for ordering the wrong thing! I also asked for something from the Chinese menu but was told very bluntly that they did not have it - I would agree with the previous reviewer that there is one menu for Chinese people and another for non-Chinese. I wish that we had just walked out when we first realised how bad the service was. I strongly recommend that you do not go to this restaurant.

What a let down. Avoid this place! Went in there for a late lunch, ordered prawn toast and noodles that were well over-cooked. The waiters were unattentive I had to ask them for soy sauce and vinegar at least 2 times. Jasmine tea seemed as if it was being re-used(no aroma or flavour).
There are other better choices around, will never return!!
