Lido

I've been to the restaurant since i was a kid and service still remains the same. Very good, the service is prompt, staff are very friendly and easy going. During less busy hours they even let you sit in the restaurant for free to avoid the rain. I recommend trying out their dim sum which is wide in variety and very nice compared to a lot of the chinese restaurants in china town, though they have downsized the portions a little bit but i promise you won't be disappointed. As for their dinner menu, the options seems to be quite limited but still taste good.

My husband and I went there for the first time yesterday after reading good reviews. We opted for the Dim sum menu.

We were definitely not disappointed.

Excellent dim sum, the staff was friendly and attentive. We didn't feel rushed. Chinese tea was topped up throughout the meal.

Very good value for money, food was light and not greasy. Yummy.

Will definitely be going back back for dim sum in the future.

I've visited this restaurant on many occasions and it hasn't disappointed me at all. In fact in my opinion it's one of the constantly high achieving places in the area with delicious food every time from a traditional menu serving both dim sum and the main courses. In addition I think the service is very quick and effective though some may think it is an act of getting rid of customers, actually it is just an efficient service with some lovely staff. I would definitely recommend this place over and over again!

I have eaten here a few times and the food has always been ok, about a 7 out of 10 at best. However each time I have always been giving the benefit of the doubt to the staff who are lacking very much in customer care and manners in general eg please and thankyou are not in their vocabulary. I ate in it last night for the final time as my wife and I were treated so badly by the waiters, including being ignored,shouted at and mocked. And why?... because we asked if we could move tables and for asking for an extra 2 minutes to think about our choice of meal. Never ever again!!!

I visited this restaurant with a friend at late lunch time on 10 January 2011 following the good reviews I'd read on this site. We were not disappointed. The staff were very nice with lots of smiles and the food was excellent. We were two non-Chinese women who knew a little about Chinese food but not that much. We were not meat eaters and chose either vegetable or seafood dim sum dishes and were delighted at what we received and the size of the dishes. All very fresh, very tasty, very nicely presented and nicely brought by the waiting staff, who seemed genuinely pleased that we had obviously enjoyed our meal. Good value too. Try the dim sum baby squid in chille - served cold with crunchy white veg. Yum.

Also it is a very pleasant space - tables not crowded, restaurant not too big, no horrible smell of frying, very clean and comfortable and good table cloths and decore etc.

All up a very good dining experience. We lingered after our meal and were not asked to move on - it wasn't overly busy but people were still coming in as we left at 3pm. We were positively impressed and will definitely come again.

rip off drinks.. shame about the price of drinks as the food was good. i ordered 1 small beer, 1 small water, 2 cans coke.. £12.. then you pay service charge which is compulsory (most places outside london not compulsory). i felt i was on a very fast conveyor belt being rushed along to finish so they can have the table for the next customers. 4 people for banquet took 35mins in total.. now tell me thats not a rush.. this restaurant serves food faster than a F1 racing car, no wonder my son had indigestion.. overall, food good, drinks rip off,service way too quick. it would be nice to have 5 mins rest in between courses rather than being asked every 2 mins "have we finished"..

I have visited a few chinese restaurants in chinatown over the past few years and can honestly say that this tops the lot. The food is exellent and varied. The staff are first class and attentative, recommending food when asked. The place is pristine clean. The second time I visited the owner remembered me. What more can I say. 1st Class! Thank you Lido for everything and happy christmas and best wishes to all. (told you I was going to write a review didn't I)

I live in Belgium, but I'm a Londoner at heart, so I visit London a couple of times per year.

I have discovered the Lido in may this year, and was impressed by the service and quality of their food.

Ask for the dim sum and let Sheena guide you. You will not be disappointed !

Great food, great service, great restaurant!

I have been going to Lido for a while now. The new restaurant overall is very appealing on both the presentation and culinary front.

Well this Wednesday 6 of us visited the Lido for Dinner - This was our first visit since the redecoration etc.

Once more the food was excellent, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere just like it used to be. Price wise including a whole crispy duck (and that was outstanding) two rounds of drinks, a selection of soups and main courses was £110 - Listen - Central London - 6 people - £110 !!!! Bloody Brilliant.

26 years i have been visiting here and still in my opinion a great experience, great value
