We came for dim sum during a busy (long qeues, so come early or afterwards) saturday lunch in november 2006, many chinese customer, a good sign.

food: definite winner was the suckling pig (8.50 pounds, 9/10) was very crispy and dilicious, dim sum such as turnip cake (2 pounds, 8/10), deep fried prawn dumplings could not live up to our expectation (3 pounds, 5/10), steam prawn -chives dumplings were good (2 pounds, 7/10). Service was ok. Overall recommended for dim sum: For two adults incl. tea we paid just approximately 25 pounds for delicious dim sum!

My English boyfriend took me to New World during my first visit to London last April. He raved about the place and when we went so did I. I just came back from England last week and New World was part of our London itinerary while I was there. Although the staff is nothing to rave about the dimsum was certainly delicious, I will definitely go back. I just wish that we have something similar

here in Florida.

I've also been going here for a few yrs, having been recommended the place by a Chinese friend. Took the kids up to London for dim sum on Sunday lunchtime and got a table immediately. Quick service. We loved the different trollys being wheeled around with the various dim sum selections. Meat, noodle and lettuce soup made up from the trolly, small plates of steamed dim sum, succulent char sui, squid rings all with a good earthy china tea - May not be for everyone but we really enjoyed it and the kids loved the whole thing! £50 for food, a couple of beers + tip. Looking forward to the next visit!

It looks like a 70s throwback, all faded glitz, but this place isn't at all bad. The menu is more exciting than most, and contains some real treats, especially the seafood. Always packed, and plenty of Chinese people seem to eat here. The wine is decent and good value, and I have never found the staff to be rude.

I went to this restaurant with my italian friend ,and we think it`s terrible. The service was rude and very slow, we were waiting about 45minutes. The atmosphere was noisy and busy, a lots of people were smoking and it wasn`t very clean. However the food was very tasty. I might go again.

We visited this place for lunch on the last Saturday of March 2006. Whilst the food is excellent, the service was PATHETIC!!

The waitress who served us behaved like she was paying us to eat there. When I (very nicely) asked for the selection of beers she snapped back like I'd said something about her character!! Attracting the attention of the waiters/ waitresses to be attended to is a little more difficult than impossible.

And yes...my apologies for not leaving a tip even though you did not deserve it.

I'm Chinese and I love the dim sum here!!! The food (dimsum, not sure about normal menu as have only tried the dimsum) is really authentic, and I love how they serve it old-style in the carts, just point at whatever you fancy... Also brilliant as it means you spend less time waiting hungrily for the food to arrive.

Have had no problems with the service as yet... the waitresses are friendly enough and very efficient. Worth a visit or two

PS. you can stuff yourself for a tenner, so its great value for money

I have been going to this restaurant since I was knee to a grasshopper and clearly remember cueing up outside to get in on a Saturday lunchtime. My dad always raved about its excellent food and value for money! However recently it as gone down hill in my opinion. The restaurant seems run down and dirty, the staff are miserable and we found a hair in our dim sum on 2 occasions. A new trick is to ask you how much you would like to tip, so you feel obliged to give a tip. I have no qualms with tipping, but when the staff ignore you and the food comes off a trolley with hair in it, I feel someone is taking the mick! Its a shame as this place used to be a mecca of buzy families from all corners of the globe enjoying gorgeous Dim sum. Now its half full of tourists looking for a cheap meal!!! I hope it improves!!

Have patronised New World for 25 years and introduced many friends to you. Sunday's Dim Sum in your basement area was a disaster - they were cold, sticky and the choice limited. Our friends were not impressed, but unlike us, will not return after this, their first visit. The Dim Sum menu is our favourite, better than Lee Ho Fook.

I took my Chinese girlfriend here and she wasnt happy from the start(ers). Firstly she said the food was good enough for tourists only and thats why no Chinese went in there!! I thought it was okay but the service was terrible and it wasnt even busy! of course, after they tried the usual added on 15% but left the service section empty to get more money from the unexpected.

i don't recommend this place!
