I have eaten in many Italian restaurants in my time, but this place is by far the best of them all . The decor is moden but not over the top.
I had the risotto with wild porcini mushrooms, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. At last a restaurant that is good.

Must try the Garlic king prawns.. To die for. Very good food, my favourite restaurant by a long shot. I’ve been a few times now and the staff remembered me which makes the service even more special.
Great place. Keep it up.

I decided to take my parents out for a meal at Amerigo Vespucci, I work in the area and my parents live in Kent, so I thought I would treat them!
We got to the restaurant around 6.30pm when they open in the evening!! We were one of the first people in the restaurant at this time! We would of liked to eat Alfresco but the weather wouldn’t allow us as it was raining. It didn’t take long and the restaurant soon filled up. The atmosphere was really nice.
We were given a lovely table by the window with river views. The waiter brought over a basket of delicious breads, ciabata and some Italian tomato bread!! Dipped in Olive oil was fantastic.
We looked at the menu and couldn’t decided what to have as a starter, we asked our waiter if he could recommend something for us. He said he could arrange a few plates as starters, so we left it to him… when our starters arrived we had King prawns in Garlic and white wine sauce, A selection of cured meats with Rocket and parmesan, Fried calamari. The starters were really good and I thought it was a great idea what our waiter had decided.
When it come to out mains, we were all feeling a little full so we decided to go for a simple fish dish.
I went for a Seabass which was in a light sauce with fennel and dill!! Mine was really good and fresh, And the steamed spinach on the side really worked well with the fish.. My parents had Dover sole and Monk Fish! They said it was very good, well there plates were clean when the waiter cleared the table so it mush have been good.
Didn’t have room for Dessert, although the Lemon and Lime cheesecake did sound good. I will have to wait for my next visit, As I will definitely be back because we all enjoyed the food and had a really lovely evening.
I have made Amerigo Vespucci my favourite eatery now. Brilliant!! Will see you soon.

Having read both previous reviews, and as a regular customer at Amerigo Vespucci, I thought I’d comment on these critic‘s.
The last review says that they made an on line booking and that a prompt reply was received, saying that the reservation would be confirmed with in 48 minutes. It’s a shame that this reviewer did not pay PRECISE attention to the facts before they wrote their review.
Fact is that the web site says within 8 working hours, and the pre confirmation email says within 48 hours, it makes me sick when people pass comment on service, when they clearly know nothing about what they criticise. I should know as I make my all my reservation on line.
For me ambience is created by attentive staff that set a level of service within a restaurant.
As for the three Asian women, to me it sounds as if no matter what the restaurant tried to do and rectify the situation these women had already decided to leave and not wait to hear an apology, She clearly admits that there was another gnocchi dish ordered. I can only say that I have always found Amerigo Vespucci a first class venue.
I am not saying that they could not have fallen short, on these occasions but even the best chefs can make mistakes. It is only fair to give people a chance to resolve their errors.

After reading the last review I wonder if I went to the same restaurant, But as I read on I could see that that they had some very good reviews.
I went to Amerigo Vespucci on a Wednesday evening. It was my fathers 60th Birthday so I decided to treat him. The weather was lovely so we asked if we could sit out side. The waiter said he didn’t have a table as it was full but said if we waited 5 minutes a table would become free. The waiter asked us if we would like a drink while we waited which was a good idea!! We all had a glass of Prosecco and waited by the river until our table was free.. Within a few minutes, a table had left and the waiter had prepared a table for us. We all sat down and was given the menu…. We were all very hungry by this time and asked the waiter if he could bring a few dishes for us to share whilst we thought about what we was going to order for our main course…. The waiter said leave it to him and he would surprise us!!
What can I say!! We were pleasantly surprised… We hag King Prawns in a garlic and white wine sauce, Calamari, And a selection of different cured meats, mozzarella with fresh basil, It was just like being in Italy. Lovely! What a good choice.
For mains I went for Spaghetti with scallops and Crab meat, very very tasty, A light olive oil sauce, which was full of flavour, you could really taste the fresh herbs they used. My father went for a Grilled Dover Sole which he tells me was very good and fresh.
We didn’t have room for desserts, by this time we were full.
I would recommend Amerigo Vespucci, The service was very attentive and the food was fantastic. I am sure I’m not the only one as the restaurant was full. You should definitely give it a go if you haven’t already! Lovely!! See you soon Amerigo.

The Mackenzie Walk in Canary Wharf is full of restaurants, the evenings are always buzzing with people, but as you near Amerigo Vespucci, the people all fade away, and you are welcomed to a stack of empty chairs at the entrance. This was surprising, after reading rave reviews about the restaurant on this very website. Honestly, I am not amazed anymore after spending an evening there.
It all began with the reservations, I booked online, to which I got a prompt auto reply saying I would receive a call back about my booking in 48 minutes (yes, they were very precise!). Well, the call never came, and when I called later that evening, they didn’t even have me on their list.
The ambience is good, with welcoming décor. It’s the food and service that leaves one wishing for more.
In an age of minimalist décor, it’s the service that the management has taken a minimalist approach to. As the waiters and waitresses hurdled together near the bar, I saw customer’s frantically wave arms to get their attention or just sit with their finished plates in front of them. The food is below average and when I took the first bite of my meal, baked beans on toast seemed like a more appetising option.
Maybe we all just ordered the wrong kind of food, maybe we just went there the day when the entire staff was in a bad mood, but I am quite positive I am not going there just to see if I was wrong about them.
If its ambience that you seek, this place isn’t all that bad, but if like me, its good food and service you are after, give this restaurant a skip.
