As others have said, the atmosphere is great. The owners and the head waiter are also charming although some of the more junior waiters don't have perfect english.
The food is mixed. The lasagne is poor, for example, and is unevenly cooked. I've had it more than once, so I know. I'm not wild about the pizzas either. On the other hand, the whitebait is excellent as are some of the meat dishes and the rigatoni amattricani. (Hope the spelling is right on that.)
I live near the restaurant and will go on carry on going there; it's just a shame the standard of the food isn't more uniform.

Very ordinary....I have been seduced by the very reasonably priced lunch set menu, but the chicken tasted as if from a tin, and the pasta was overcooked. Pity..

I sat outside and after reading the review that was printed and posted in the window right next to me that said it was "the best Italian restaurant outside Italy!" I couldn't wait to get back to my hotel and write a review of my own. It could be the worst! I was very disappointed. They brought out a slice of stale bread and a few black pitted olives that you buy at the grocery store in a can. I ordered penne arrabiata.... which I thought no-one could mess up..... wrong. It came out in under 2 minutes, was watery, on the cold side and lacked flavor. The service was crap as well...... as an Italian, I was embarrassed for them.

I was very disappointed. I ordered a pizza capricciosa and it was small, too soft and overloaded with cheese, there were 3 olives, some pieces of pepper and I think some dried mushrooms. The "real" capricciosa has black and/or green olives (more than tree, possibly), artichokes and mushrooms in oil. One of the waiters smelled and the waitress must have had a very bad day because she looked really depressed! I'm Italian and I do my own pizza at home... I don't believe that was home made! Strada - although it's a chain - is much better and so is Spaccanapoli...

This is the best Italian restaurant outside Italy.
The food is fantastic and homemade and they have a great set menu for under £12 for which you get a starter, pasta main, desert, coffee and shot of amaretto. Bottles of wine are also reasonably priced. The staff are extremely friendly and the restaurant is always full. I have taken many friends and family here and everyone always says how good they think it is.

What a lovely gem! Found it by accident Friday night. Nice atmosphere, unhurried and very welcoming proprietors. Nice buzz to the area. Excellent home style Italian cooking. Sea Bass and Tuna steak cooked to perfection, complimentary drinks after and excellent coffee to finish. Definately one we will return to. (especially as it came to just over £33 for an excellent two courses, a beer and a bottle of water)

I have to say, I was tempted into this restaurant by the £11.95 3-course set dinner menu! Fortunately, I didn't regret it one bit! The staff were relaxed and welcoming.... attentive without being intrusive. For the price, the food was brilliant, and I have to say there was lots of it! As well as the three courses, they threw in coffee and liquers! Will definitely be going back!

One of my favourites - Attilios is the home of great home made Italian food and a fantastic friendly service. The olives are always delicious and the specials menu deserves some special attention . I recently had an exquisite Sea Bass that made my taste buds smile. The prices are very reasonable and the cosy atmosphere is always full and hearty I can't recommend Attilio's genuine Italian hospitality highly enough!

A lovely looking little restaurant this is, and what a welcoming the proprietor gave us as we hovered uncertainly outside one saturday night.
Having decided to eat there, we were shown a functional (perhaps dull) menu listing the usual pizza, pasta etc.
We had a reasonably priced bottle of red house wine, but were both unimpressed by the food.
My other half had a cannelloni that would have been best described as bechamel soup with a fwe token shrivelled pancakes in it. My Pizza was like something out of the value range at a certain well-known supermarket.
Both were extremely bland, and were it not for the hurry we were in I think we'd have left the whole meal and gone elsewhere.
Restaurants with food this poor are a rarity nowadays - most are out of business. It's a shame to say it, but I expect this one survives only because the atmosphere and staff are lovely.
Great if you have no sense of taste.
