Auberge (Mark Lane)

Held my 30th B'day party last week and want to right a couple or wrongs on this site. Of course I read the reviews before booking but gave them a call and was really impressed. Apparently they are setting up a new functions team which might explain why things were different for me but I have to say it couldn't ahve been easier and I was so happy with the staff. They really bent over backwards to make things work and were so helpful.

Food was really great, place looked fantastic, couldn't have asked for anything more.

I recently attended a charity event at the Auberge which in itself was a hugely successful evening, the only downer was the venue!

They totally direspected the agreement made with the organiser of the event who had to pay out an extra £400 pounds from the money raised just to ensure there was enough food to go round, which had been guaranteed when the booking was originally made, and the quality of the food was a disgrace...stale sandwiches, fries and crap nibbles, hardly worth an extra £400!

All in all a very disappointing venue.

Went there with some friends last week and we had a fab time. Food was fantastic and staff were so freiendly and attentive, felt like you where in your local pub! Recommend this big time!

This restaurant must have gone downhill since the last reviews. Had lunch there yesterday (18/9/06) and it was distinctly mediocre. Even the pre-meal olives were stale. Service was slow and the place was almost empty, so no atmosphere.

this restaurant is amazing. the food and the whole atmosphere was perfect. i don't usually like french cuisine but this was just melt in the mouth experience. i advise you to go there.

A relaxed setting for formal and informal lunches, ideal for a business meeting or just a lunch with friends. Good service (though sometimes a bit slow) and good food - try the fishcakes!
