Balls Brothers (Hay's Galleria)

We went for a business lunch today. The restaurant was quiet when we got there at 12.15pm, and didn't get particularly busy the whole time we were there. Despite this, the service was appalling,we didn't order starters yet the main course didn't arrive until almost an hour after we sat down. The desserts were another hour after that. I work less than 10 mins walk from here, but will not be going back.

My husband & I went to the Balls Brother Restaurant Hays Galleria on Wednesday 7th May at 8.15pm. We went to the bar and asked for a table for two and were told by the waitress that they were not taking any more bookings. This would have been fine if the place was busy ,but it was not. There were a few diners but the majority of tables were empty and fully laid for dinner. The waitress saw we surprised at this and a bit annoyed so she said, if you want I could ask my manager if you are able to eat! We told her not to bother as we were obviously not welcome. We were annoyed as the night before we had been and looked at a menu and spoken to the staff on the outside bar of this restaurant and were told we would be able to eat the following night and it was not neccesary to book. I could understand this attitude if we went in late and they were about to finish but 8.15pm I feel is fairly early for London eating.

I work close by so come here for lunch regularly, normally in the bar area rather than in the restaurant proper. Service is swift and attentive and it's pleaseant to sit on the outside tables and watch boules being played in the Galleria.
The sandwiches are extremely good, particularly the roast beef. The chips are also very good, if a bit pricey. The fishcakes are a winner, but they come with about 2 salad leaves so make sure you have a side order with them.
If you opt for a meal in the restaurant, I would recommend saving some room as the cheese board is absolutley first-rate.
The wine list is extensive and fairly priced.

Visited this evening and was very pleased with it. It was very quiet (Monday at 6:30pm and a tube strike!) but service was good but not overbearing, menu was small but with enough to offer something for all four of us. Not that cheap, but very good, and you're not paying for the view like others in the area.

In all the office christmas lunches/ dinners that I have ever done in London, I think Balls Brothers has been the best. The menu is fantastic to the extent of serving all taste types including excellent vegetatian food, I had Steamed mushroom &red onion pudding with truffle jus..... Now that was absolutely awesome.....AND they served Pinot Grigio! (My favourite)
