Popped into Bangers on the week leading up to Christmas having not visited for some time. I visited with a friend who had the Bangers and mash and he was not disappointed ( which was good as I had recommended them!) probably the best of its kind in the City. I had a hand trimmed Sirloin with fries and bernaisse sauce and was very pleased with my choice. The service was friendly and attentive and the wine list more than adequate.

Bangers offers a "What you see is what you get" approach. There's nothing pretentious about its food, decor or service. I went as part of a business meeting of the glass industry which is held every year in December. As such, it is likely to appeal to people of a certain generation who like things simple but edible.
We had three course comprising smoked salmon and smoked salmon pate (a little overkill there), rump steak but with no one asking how we wanted it done and the usual vegetables and a dessert that I passed on. We had a good supply of wine and port at the end. All of this came to £70 inclusive.
Was it worth it? Well, for us, it was a chance to catch up on people not seen for a year. The service was friendly and polite and the food adequate. The main point is that it is miles away from being pretentious with staff that feel they are doing you a favour.
