The quality of the curry has really dropped at the Bengal Tiger.

The lunchtime special menu has now been withdrawn (because of Christmas apparently).

The upshot is that it's an expensive place to go for a below par curry. What a shame compared with what it used to be.

4 of us went there on Tuesday night for dinner.

Service is very poor - slow and surly. In fact we thought the way they threw the plates on the table reminded us of the infamous Wong Kei's in China Town.

Now dont get me wrong, I dont mind a bit of attitude from the waiters as long as its backed up by good food but lets be clear here, the food was awful, the naans were like sponge and the meat dishes were tasteless which is saying something for an Indian restaurant! A complete lack of fresh ingredients in the sauces are to blame I suspect.

NEVER AGAIN!!

This is probably.. No for sure the worst restuarant i have ever been to in terms of total experience. Please note : not just the worst indian restaurant but worst restaurant of any kind.

1) Worst Service.- Took forever to provide anything. Drink - we were sitting next to the bar and would take 10 mins before we get a drink/juice.

2) We got the food 45 minutes after we placed the order. No one would ask for any refill or second order. Even if we call them the first 2 person would decline our call and eventually someone will come.

3) Less than average food. None of the food has any kind of flavor.Just looked colourful.

4) The price they charge for the kind of food and service highly overpriced.

I usually do not have high expectaiton from restaurants but my experience in this restaurant made me to write this review.

PLEASE DON'T GO.

I am amazed to see a few negative comments about Bengal Tiger on here. Yes, the service does leave a little to be desired somewhere, but this is almost part of the charm of many Indian Restaurants...

The food is always excellent, with no sight of the overcooked meat that you get at many restaurants of this kind. The ambience can be a little lacking when it's quiet, but it is normally busy on weekday evenings and when it is the atmosphere is buzzing.

I would highly recommend this place as one of the better places to have indian food in the square mile without spending an absolute fortune.

A friend of mine booked our table for 3 online with a view to make use of the Express Lunch Menu at £9.95 per head (2 courses). Mr Mark (my friend's first name) and I were shown to our table only to be told that the Express Lunch Menu was for Monday to Wednesday sittings only. There is no mention of this on the restaurant's website!

Service was attentive if somewhat reluctant. Come on chaps. It's your decision to serve and wait, so do it with a smile eh?

Food however was excellent. I had the Garlic Chilli Chicken with Mushroom Rice, whilst my friends went for Lamb and Vegetable Biryanis. The Garlic Chilli Chicken was spiced perfectly and all the heat came from the split chillies in the sauce rather than heaps of chilli powder. The garlic appeared to be roasted as well which gave a nicer flavour than simply sliced garlic fried in the sauce. Bags of fresh coriander in the dish, finished it off perfectly.

Would definitely return for the food experience and to try something else on the menu.
