Chez Gerard (Trinity Square)
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
As a Frechman working in the city (couple of blocks away from this restaurant actually) I had a number of occasions to taste and test Chez Gérard... It is a nice but busy venue for business lunches. The booth provide a little more tranquility to discuss while you start with a traditional pastis apéritif.
The food is good, if not excellent. The starters are really loyal with the French traditional cuisine (Escargots, Foie gras, charcuterie...).
For the main, meat (of all sorts) is fantastic. Mind that one ought to order its beef 'rare' or 'blue' : it's really that way it best tastes.
Pommes frites are a good alternative to traditional chips. The wine list is well balanced although mainly proposing French wines (but you expected so, hu ?).
Overall it's a good French style restaurant for reasonable money (we're in the City though...).
Their restaurant in Bishopsgate is of the same standard although even more noisy (no booth) but the French staff make it even more 'à la française'...

The beef was amazing, really good quality and very tasty. There is very little room to move around, tables tightly packed! I also found the wine rather expensive, and the dessert portions tiny. Starters werent amazing, but the main def. made up for it.
