El Vino (London Wall)

Next time Ben is having a bad day, he should not take it out on El Vino (see review below!). I go there for lunch regularly and enjoy the warm pear, walnut and blue cheese salad; it is a good combination and the warm dressing and bacon bits make it even more delicious.

Stunningly bad food. Just awful, even by London's low standards. Ever had the lettuce on a pear-and-walnut salad cooked by the still-hot bacon bits? Ever wondered if there is such a thing as a bland bleu cheese? El Vino can help answer these questions, and more!

A colleague and I nipped into lunch today to El Vino at London Wall. We were shown to a nice table, ordered a bottle of dry white wine and were presented with an already open bottle of Riesling. Waitress then took this away with words along the lines of "it's what they gave me". We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay and whilst what arrived was an Australian Chardonnay, my friend and I both agreed it was the strangest we had ever experienced.
We were presented with the Christmas Menu and had to ask to get the light lunch menu. My friend then ordered Pate only to be told there was none. She opted instead for the Caesar Salad which was drenched in dressing and not the most appetising. I had the Club Sandwich was was nothing to write home about.
All in all - not a great venue. With other places around El Vino really needs to smarten up its act if it's going to continue to survive.
